ANNOUNCING A NEW FORCE IN BIZARRE CULT HORROR!
TIDEPOINT PICTURES PRESENTS BONE HOUSE ASIA!

From the high-desert fortress of Santa Fe-based Tidepoint Pictures, distributor of Sion Sono’s NORIKO’S DINNER TABLE, and Takashi Miike’s DEAD OR ALIVE, comes a brand-new label of the unusual, the bizarre, and the fantastic: BONE HOUSE ASIA!

BONE HOUSE ASIA’s first serving is the surreal nightmare of Higuchinsky’s LONG DREAM (Nagai Yume), from the director of UZUMAKI (Spiral), and Junji Ito, the popular Japanese manga writer responsible for the TOMIE series and the remarkably twisted GYO. Junji Ito’s impact is felt industry-wide. Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy), skillful conjurer of dark fantasy and cinematic magic elates, “Master Junji Ito’s images and ideas are enthralling and powerful in a way that only great art is. His unique view of the world infects our mind and devours our conscience. The darkness in him will blind you.”

Bone House Asia’s DVD release for LONG DREAM, available June 24, includes interviews with director Higuchinsky,
manga creator Junji Ito, the film’s star, trailers, and English and Spanish subtitles.

Tidepoint Pictures has been instrumental in releasing the tops in Asian genre films with classic cult releases including Higuchinsky’s UZUMAKI, and Katsuhito Ishii’s SHARK SKIN MAN AND PEACH HIP GIRL. Tidepoint was also spirited enough to introduce Hideo Nakata to the US with their release of CHAOS, years before his RINGU hit American shores. Add Sion Sono’s NORIKO’S DINNER TABLE to the mix (from the director of SUICIDE CLUB and HAIR EXTENSIONS) and you’ve got a library of cult classics with just the first handful of releases.

Says Tetsuki Ijichi, President and CEO of Tidepoint Pictures, “There is much more to Asian cult cinema than what typically gets shown in the U.S. With Bone House Asia, we want to open up American audiences to the fresh voices of talented Asian filmmakers who will challenge your mind and disturb your sleep.”

BONE HOUSE ASIA also concentrates on theatrical releases so you can share bizarre fantasies with strangers in the dark… This summer be sure to check online or in your inbox for news on BONE HOUSE ASIA’s latest theatrical release, Go Shibata’s LATE BLOOMER (Osoi Hito), enjoying a New York run at the Pioneer Theater from July 25 to July 31. LATE BLOOMER turns the serial killer genre upside-down as the benign-looking Sumida-san, confined to a wheelchair but loving to ‘rock out,’ is an obsessive psychopath who erupts into lethal violence. For stills, synopses, and a darn spooky time, be sure to visit www.bonehouseasia.com. Sign up for our mailing list and stay up to date on all our latest releases, occasional contests, and the best in Asian horror and fantastic cinema. Do you have the guts to enter the creepy pagoda down the lane? The doors have creaked open at the black-winged mansion at the end of the block — known only as BONE HOUSE ASIA!

Join the Anubis Digital Team!
Anubis Digital Studios, the production company that brought you the award-winning DEAD MOON RISING (DMR), is now casting for DEAD MOON RISING 2 (DMR2). Check out the links below for more about Anubis Digital or DMR.
DMR won Fangoria Magazine’s Video of the Month for May 2008, and secured a national distribution deal.
DMR2 will be an episodic TV series, broadcast via the Internet, iTunes, etc.
Our goal is to have 1 million web views per month by the end of 2008.
DMR2 will bring in some fresh new major characters to round out the surviving original characters.
We will also have plenty of day-player parts to serve as “zombie-chow.”

DATE: Saturday, June 28, 2008
TIME: 2 – 5 PM
PLACE: Anubis Digital Studios production offices in Louisville, Kentucky (address & directions provided upon acceptance).

Two roles will be available for audition and screen test (by appointment only).
Both of these roles are central characters. These will be demanding roles, however our shooting schedule is flexible, due to the ensemble cast, and the episodic nature of the clips. Must be able to shoot in evenings and/or weekends on an occasional basis over the next year.

Deferred compensation. Credit.

ABBY – A beautiful, strong-willed woman of athletic build. Must be able to pass for 25-35 years. Martial arts skills a plus, but not required. Your character works for one of the 3-letter acronym agencies (CIA? NSA? NRU? CDC? – the audience will not be sure until much later). You are on a mission when the infection hits, now you must survive as well as try to find its source.

KIT – A young, grad-student type (19-25 years). You are brilliant, but a little naïve. You can take care of yourself, especially against your creepy boss. Girl-next-door pretty.

Send headshot & resume to Director@AnubisDigital.com. Include a phone number and the best time to call. Those with Links to YouTube clips of past work given first preference.

Clive Barker’s Midnight Meat Train is headed straight to DVD, maybe.

Posted by Charlie on June 25, 2008

Want to see it in the theaters? The Clive Barker needs your help. Lion’s Gate is apparently only going to give what could finally be an awesome mainstream horror movie a limited 100 screen release and then dump it to DVD. Clive, and most fans(including me, I mean c’mon this is one of my favorite Books of Blood stories were taking about), are pissed. Barker released this open letter to the attendees of the recent Fango Weekend of Horrors:
“To be perfectly honest, I need your help…
There have been signs for a long while that Lionsgate, the company releasing the movie, was going to screw around with it. Release dates were changed and changed again. And my phone calls to the people at Lionsgate, asking for answers, were not returned. I was finally told that Lionsgate only planned to open the movie in a tiny number of theaters - somewhere between 100 and 300 - run it for a week, then put it on DVD.
“In other words, they were going to dump our movie…
“So… I’m fighting back.
“And I’m asking you now to fight with me.
“If you want to see The Midnight Meat Train on the big screen the way it should be seen, please contact Joe Drake at Lionsgate and tell him your feelings…”

In another interview on AMCTV.com, Barker lashes out at Lion’s Gate decision makers;
“My issue is with the control that individuals have in these cases - people with no interest in the movie as an artistic piece, with no concern for the care that was taken to put it on the screen… and who very often have only political motivations. They’re tossing this thing away as if it matters not at all to them. Usually those agendas are fiscal, and that’s what confuses me here. If they wind up putting this film on a hundred screens for a week, they’re leaving millions on the table.”

Barker goes on as true a horror movie fan as the rest of us saying that while, yeah a large audience will get to see the film on DVD it’s just not the same experience as a packed theater;
“The movie is fucking great, and it’s not right to stop horror fans who’ve been looking forward to seeing the picture from seeing it on the big screen. I’ve seen it with audiences, and they go nuts.”

Clive Barker’s website encourages fans to write and call Lion’s Gate to change their minds.

You can email this message:
As a long time Clive Barker fan, I am writing you to express my strong desire to see “The Midnight Meat Train” on the big screen.
Rumors are currently circulating that the film will only be released on a limited basis and I am very concerned that I will miss my opportunity to see the most highly anticipated Clive Barker film in over a decade in all of its big screen glory!
There are millions of horror fans like myself who have been disappointed by the recent trend towards watered down PG-13 horror movies. Clive’s work represents a return to serious, thought provoking horror movies and with Ryuhei Kitamura at the helm, I am even more excited to experience this collaboration as it was intended: in a packed theater with hundreds of other horror fans like myself!
I urge you to please give this film the release it deserves!
Many thanks,

Gross Movie Reviews #130

By Tim Gross

“I’ll see you at Horrorhound Weekend in Pittsburgh!”

I Know Who Killed Me (DVD) – The real question should be, “Do we care?” I stayed away from this just because it starred former Disney teen idol ‘Lindsay Lohan’. Unless she is going into porn I care less, but I figured she suppose to be a stripper in this film and figured I’d give it a chance. Shit! If it looks like shit, if she acts like shit, and the script is shit, it must be a big steamy pile of donkey shit! Fuck, I haven’t seen such a horrible movie since the remake of “The House on Haunted Hill”. Hell, it was so bad when she goes for her big sex scene they even made sure you couldn’t see the essentials… WTF? But anyhow, if suicide seems not cruel enough, watch this crap as I give it 0 stars.

Slashing Prices (DVD-R) – Rick and the DSK crew are back with a film that goes back to the basics. The real basics of a slasher film where the killer couldn’t afford a mask so he wears a plastic bag to protect his identity. After a customer is burned by acid in a CD/movie store run by aging semi-rock star John Legionare, customers begin to disappear one by one without the two retards who work there ever noticing as they are worried about watching ‘two girls, one cup’ on you tube! The movie seems a little slow through the first twenty minutes but the jokes and the murders start to fly after that. Filled with lots of blood and the usual fun you expect from Rick and the DSK crew which the biggest highlight of the film is ‘Ace’ playing the John Legionare character and he is so obsessed with the disc buffer machine that he begins to use it on his penis and gets caught doing it, and continues to keep going! Funny shit people! The great thing about this DVD is the FX extra that takes you into the world of DSK and what it took to get the effects to look the way they looked on film. The movie might have had no budget or less but a lot of inventive and smart thinking went into what they wanted for the film. This segment is something a lot of independent filmmakers and movie fans out there should take note as this is one of the best extras on a DVD I ever seen! I give the DVD 2 ½ stars and can be found at www.dsk-productions.com .

Student Bodies (DVD) – A horror film first released in 1981 and was never seen again except through video trading in the 80s and bootlegs has finally seen DVD. It is a fun horror/comedy that spoofs pretty much every slasher film in the past two years before it. A slasher film that all horror fans need to buy and watch but not for the mainstream “Scary Movie” crowd in opinion. I give the classic 3 stars.

Prom Night (DVD/remake) – A remake of a so-so slasher film that starred Jamie Lee Curtis that stars no one this time around and pretty much plays out in the first ten minutes and you hate yourself for watching it. Be warned, it sucks worse than being forced to watch 12 hours straight of “Gilmore Girls”! I give it 0 stars.

Prey of the Jaguar (DVD) – The film stars Stacy Keach and Linda Blair and that’s where anything good about the movie ends. The movie is about a man whose family is killed by drug dealers and he becomes a generic superhero to get revenge on them in a plot that sucks large gorilla nuts! I give it a ½ star and can be found at www.echobridgehe.com .

Conspiracy of Fear (DVD) – A government scientist is murdered by an assassin who is believed to have information on an Anti-virus and his son becomes involved when it isn’t found. Before the son is killed by the same assassin he is saved by a pretty girl who happens to be a car thief and becomes involved when the police find out the CIA is involved looking for the son. The movie plays out like sub-par love story/thriller but worth the rental fee if there is nothing else on the new release shelf that day. I give the DVD 2 stars and can be found at www.echobridgehe.com .

Stan Winston died today…

Posted by Tim on June 16, 2008

(Found on E!Online/yahoo.com)

Los Angeles (E! Online) - From The Terminator movies to Iron Man, Stan Winston made the magic that make movies magic.

The Oscar-winning visual-effects and makeup guru died Sunday of multiple myeloma at his Malibu home. He was 62, and had been battling the plasma cancer for seven years.
Long Hollywood’s go-to creator of creatures great and occasionally frightning, Winston won four Oscars for his wizardry on Jurassic Park, Aliens and Terminator 2: Judgment Day, which earned him two statuettes, one for makeup and one for visual effects. He was nominated a total of 10 times.
His handiwork can be seen in the current summer hits Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, You Don’t Mess With the Zohan and Iron Man, for which Winston’s namesake studio built the hero’s high-tech armored suits.
Stan Winston Studio is also set to work on the upcoming Terminator 4, the big-screen, live-action G.I. Joe and James Cameron’s Avatar.
Although Winston tended to work on films that were heavy on special effects, he maintained his life’s work was about building characters, not gadgets.
“I don’t do special effects. I create characters and I use the tools of special effects necessary to do it,” Winston told BBC in 2003.
Winston’s career began in 1969 when, according to his company’s Website, the aspiring actor took a would-be day job as an apprentice to a Disney makeup artist. Just a few years later, he scored his first major award—an Emmy for his makeup work on a 1972 TV movie Gargoyles.
Throughout the 1970s, Winston created makeup looks for everything from low-budget horror films to a Diana Ross TV special. In the 1981, he earned his first Oscar nomination for using makeup to make a robot of Andy Kaufman in the 1981 comedy, Heartbeeps.
In 1984, he began a storied association with Cameron and the T-series cyborgs of The Terminator movies.
Moving beyond makeup, Winston was responsible for creating the futuristic effects for the relatively low-budget sci-fi thriller. While he didn’t rate an Oscar nomination for the film, he established himself as a special effects specialist. He and Cameron would later go on to help found Digital Domain, the special-effects house.
After Terminator, Winston seemingly had a creative hand in every popcorn movie to pop out of Hollywood, including: Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park movies, for which he created the large as life dinosaurs; Cameron’s Aliens; Spielberg’s Artificial Intelligence: A.I.; Tim Burton’s Edward Scissorhands; Predator; Interview With a Vampire, even Tank Girl.
In 2001, Winston received an honor usually reserved for faces in front of the camera: A star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
In 2003, Winston told the Los Angeles Times that he’d become so associated with creating creatures that the calendar date Oct. 31 drove him underground.
“There’s no way I could do anything on Halloween that would live up to what anyone would expect of me. If I were going to a costume party, what would I do? It would just be disappointing,” Winston said with apparent humor. “Halloween has become the tragic day of the year for Stan.”

Hack Movies blogged about what’s coming up next, over the weekend!

Posted by Tim on June 16, 2008

A new Era Dawns!
Minions. I write to you today from a secret location miles below Strangeville. My doctor suggested I stay as far below ground as possibe to help combat the effects of some weird seisures I’ve been having lately. You see, for about 3 months, I’ve been afflicted with an odd disorder. First my dick would inexplicibly get hard for no good reason at all. Naturally I’d go ahead and start jerking off cause a hardon is a terrible thing to waste. But within seconds I’d begin to shake and convulse and eventually I’d black out. when I’d come to, I’d have scrawled a scene of a movie I’ve yet to write all over the floor in my own bile and fecees. Naturally I collected all of these unconcious writings and pain stakingly typed them out into what became the script for the next Mighty film from Hack Movies. A film know to the world as-haha, not yet. I have much to tell you about, so let me just go ahead and adjust my dick jewlery and get started:
Colonel Kill Has Come and Gone

We’ve washed off the camo paint and retired the hoodies, gang. the Kill Motherfuckers era has passed, and what a great fucking era it was! We touched thousands of you with our relentless brand of horror/satire/gross out/slap stick gore/comedy and I want to personally thank each and every on of you motherfuckers we’ve met online, at conventions, and at shows that gave Hack Movies and Colonel Kill a chance.

You ruthless ass lovers of the underground are what keep the wheels turning on this company. We honestly and sincerely could not do it without you fucks. We are truly an Underground. The mainstream does not, will not, and can not understand this thing we do. When you show most people a Hack Movie, they look at you sideways and ask you what the fuck is wrong with you. They don’t feel this magic minions! Don’t sweat them! Don’t sweat the haters! Be proud to represent the underground! Be proud to represent Hack Mother Fucking Movies!
This wicked circus freakshow keeps on moving

With two conventions already behind us and a HUGE response from Chicago minions at Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors, we’ve added four additional convention appearances to our already jam packed 2008 schedule. First up on August 15-17th, we’ll be heading down south to Louisville Kentucky for the Fright Night Film Fest to kick it with none other than the Creepy Kentuckian and Uncle Bill, collectively known as DEADPIT radio!

Then, a few short weeks later, the crew will head back to Indianapolis Indiana to school another group of unsuspecting horror fans at the HorrorHound Weekend Show!

Next up, in Sepetember, We’ve been invited to attend the second annual Dark Carnival Film Fest in Evansville Indiana. Hack Movies is gonna show Evansville what it means to be a true Hack minion. Full on face paint with costumed characters running around throwing flyers at every Tom Dick and Harry that walks by, spreading that Hack sickness like the fucking plague, you know how we do!

Finally, this perverse Horror train comes to a stop right here in our hometown, St. Louis Missouri at the Monstrous Weekend on October 27-29th! Don’t miss the chance to meet the Hack Crew , score some exclusive Hack Merch, and the chance to personally suck our dicks at one of the infamous Hack Movies convention after parties!
A New Era Dawns

As if all this freshness weren’t plenty for you to wrap your fake ass tupe pieces around, Hack Movies is about to begin production on our 3rd feature length film and 4th DVD release since 2006! The enery is strong with this one gang. Myself and other key members of the hack crew have found ourself drawn together late at night to remote and abandoned cornfields. What we found in these fields was always the same. The title of the next feature length film from Hack Movies, scrawled in the dirt:
CockHammer.

The plot of CockHammer is relatively straightfoward: A ruthless snuff porn filmmaker named CockHammer has been kidnapping and sacrificing all the hookers in Strangeville on film. A couple of hot and horny swinger girls get caught up in the satanicy mess and find themselves the next victims of this psychotic filmmaker. Now it’s up to their douchbag boyfriends to find and rescue them before CockHammers evil plot sees fruition!

Gang, when I came to you those many months ago and told you that Colonel Kill was gonna be the most perverted and ruthless Hack Movie to date, I did Not Lie! I did not exagerate! I hyped up a crazy ass slasher film and I delivered! Now I come to you again, and I must tell you…CockHammer is the most perverse, disghusting piece of trash I have ever written! You sick fucks are in for a real treat with this one. We take the sex, drugs and gore quotient up 10 mother fucking knotches for this piece, best believe that!

So when does this sick fucking movie drop? We’re currently, deep, DEEP into pre-production. We expect to shoot the flick sometime in September and October, so expect a release near Christmas or New Years 2009. But do not fret Minions! In the interm Hack Movies will be releasing a series of short promotional videos introducing you to the crazy ass henchmen employed by CockHammer: Wolfram and Windgate. Expect a new wolfram and Windgate video every month, starting with July 17th and running all the way up to the release of the CockHammer trailer.

There you have it Minions. Welcome to the Era of CockHammer! We’ll see you at those Conventions! Buy a fucking Hack Value pack from HackMovies.com and rep the fuck outta your brand ass new T shirt and DVD piece! I now leave you with the first promo video of this exciting new era: Strangeville Cafe: CockHammer

“Gone the Way of Flesh”

By Tim Gross

Jason and his crew put together a film like no other in recent memory of independent films. The film “Gone the Way of Flesh” was made for a mere $700, mostly spent at Wal-mart for props and was made over a period of three years. And it was time well spent! Between Jason being interviewed by the local papers to him posting about his movie on www.myspace.com and www.Bastardsofhorror.com , the theater that held the screening was packed like never before. It was like a fat chick trying to fit a three sized too small thong and witnessed a one-of-a-kind independent film. From its sleaziness to its rock-a-billy soundtrack, the movie had people either stuck in their chair wanting more or had a few people looking on in disgust which is always good to have that type of reaction. The movie runs in around the 65 minute mark and pushes the boundaries of sleaze and creepiness every step of the way. The story revolves a detective who is on a case that seems like it will never be solved. It is a case that pertains to young under drinking age women who are being killed by a serial killer during a popular local band’s concerts. The killings take place at all sorts of clubs but only if the band is playing. The plot seemed thin at times but at $700 who’s complaining? The movie features what most horror fans are looking for: blood, nudity, and great music! In my opinion, I found the movie to be done no justice as it played in the theater. You take away that it was filmed on digital video and it fits right in with all the great grindhouse and sleazy films that played at the drive-ins during the late 60’s and 70’s at midnight. The movie belongs at a drive-in with drive-in party type atmosphere. Whether it equals success when it hits DVD remains to be seen but to me it is well worth the risk of checking this great film out especially since not too many films like this come along! I give it 3 1/2 stars and sequel is now in production!
