THE HORROR VAULT which has been in the works for now well over two
years will be released on April 24. It will be available from the
website www.thehorrorvault.net and the film will be shipped from the
US.

The film is an anthology and consists of nine small stories, very
inspired by the pasts Creepshow, Tales from The Crypt and ofcourse
Masters of Horror.

Check cast and crew here http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0369424/

The Horror Vault consists of nine short grueling stories about the
cruely and insanity of mankind. Hopefully you will enjoy, find the
dark humor amusing and hopefully make you wonder.

“When John Met Julia” is a modern twist on Romeo and Juliet, except
everything goes a bit wrong…for poor John anyway. Written and
directed by Kim Sønderholm, starring Claire Ross-Brown (Love Me
Forever, Pistoleros) as Julia and Kim Sønderholm (Craig, Brutal
Incasso) as John.

“Delusion” is a black/white 50ies style of horror drama, directed by
Mark Machillo, starring Jonaton Trent (Alone with her, Slaughter,
Fashion Victim), Heather Tom (The Bold and The Beautiful, The Young
and The Restless) and many others.

“Alone” is a story about being all alone in a sorority house on a dark
night. Written and directed by Kenny Selko, featuring Mandy Amano
(Ghosts of Goldfield, Coyote Ugly), Jerod Edington (Ghost Month, E.R)
and Guy Nardulli (Jekyll, House M.D).

“Mental Distortion” is a story about Pete, waking on on his floor,
about to do a gruesome find. Directed by Kim Sønderholm who also plays
Pete, supported by Maja Muhlack (One Hell Of A Christmas, Westbrick
Murders) and Barbara Zatler (Craig, Predatory Instinct).

“Dead To The World” has english actor and director Russ Diaper (Deadly
Pursuit, The Demon Within) take a stab at the Ted Bundy legend from a
new perspective. In supporting roles are Paul Kelleher (Meatcleaver
Massacre, Moonlight Murders) and Joyia Fitch (Midsomer Murders, The
Last Hangman).

“Disconnected” directed by David Boone and Josh Card is a black and
white little threat of the absurd - dark humor and crude and explicit
torture mixed in one.

“Echoes” by Gabriel Dowrick, the australian addition about a man,
waking up, tied to a bed in what seems to be a nursing home, knowing
little of what is going on.

“The Demon” by Thomas Steen Soerensen is the story about a man chased
by his own ghosts and desires, which is about to explode as he picks
up a young pretty woman hitchhiking at the side of the road, coming
seemingly from nowhere. Or is she?

Finally, “Retina” by JP Wenner starring Rachel Grubb and Heather Amos,
is a black and white and extremely absurd and nihilistic story about..
well - you’re the audience - you decide! :-)

Film is now available from http://www.thehorrorvault.net/

Look who is coming to EERIE HORROR FEST?

Posted by Tim on April 23, 2008

Sid Haig Confirmed as Special Guest at 2008 Fest!  ACTOR SID HAIG CONFIRMED AS GUEST OF THE 2008 EERIE HORROR FILM FESTIVAL Erie, Pa. (4/22/08) - The Eerie Horror Film Festival announced today that veteran actor Sid Haig will be appearing at their fifth annual event this October. Haig, perhaps best known for his role as Captain Spaulding in Rob Zombie’s “House of 1,000 Corpses” and “The Devil’s Rejects”, has appeared in over one hundred film and television programs since 1960, including “THX 1138″, a science fiction film directed by a then unknown George Lucas and the Quentin Tarantino films “Jackie Brown” and “Kill Bill Vol. 2″.  In the 1970’s Haig appeared in many action movies, including the James Bond film “Diamonds are Forever” and the blaxploitation classics “Coffy”, “Foxy Brown” and “The Big Doll House” with Pam Grier. Haig acted with Lon Chaney, Jr. in the 1968 cult movie “Spider Baby”, which has grown in popularity over the years and has also appeared in several classic television programs including “Star Trek”, “Gunsmoke” and “Fantasy Island“. His most current production is “Brotherhood of Blood” where he appears as a vampire. The Eerie Horror Film Festival & Expo takes place at the Warner Theater in Erie, Pennsylvania, October 9 - 12, 2008. Other special guests include Kane Hodder (Friday the 13th series), Tony Moran (John Carpenter’s Halloween), Kenny Miller (I Was a Teenage Werewolf) and a cast reunion from the original “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” featuring Gunnar Hansen (Leatherface). For more details: http://www.eeriehorrorfilmfestival.com

Gross Movie Reviews #123

Posted by Tim on April 23, 2008

Gross Movie Reviews #123  By Tim Gross  “Egg, how did you get up there?” asks Burton. Egg’s response, “It wasn’t easy!” – Big Trouble in Little China

The Horror Show (VHS) – Known as ‘House III’ over in Europe in 1989 and was criticized as being the same movie as Craven’s “Shocker” that came out the exact time and was somewhat like 1990’s “The First Power” but in my opinion was very overlooked. The film stars B-movie legend Brion James as a mass murderer named ‘Max Jenky’ who randomly slaughtered people and was on the run for three years until a detective played by the man, the myth, the legend, Lance Henriksen catches him and Max is sent to the chair for death! What Lance and others don’t know is Max has been readying himself for the other side so he can continue his murder spree from beyond the grave… It is above and beyond a great late 80s slasher that doesn’t get its due since there was tons of sequels out at the time. The film has excellent make-up effects and a great character ‘Max’ that were perfect for many sequels to come!? It’s a shame there is no legit DVD out yet but if you look hard enough you can still find VHS copies relatively cheap. I give the movie 3 ½ stars.

Star Crystal (VHS) – A horrible ‘Alien’ rip off from 1985 that has a creature killing off crew members of a spacecraft and trying to control the ship so it can get back home. It’s boring, nobody is naked, not a whole lot of blood and guts, and I give it ½ star and wonder why they don’t remake this shit?

Swamp Thing “The Un-Men Unleashed” (VHS) – An episode of the Saturday morning cartoon that didn’t last long in 1990 that was a spin off of the popular cult like film from 1982 and the popular comic book series. In this episode Swamp Thing takes on Dr. Arcane’s enhanced creatures called “Un-Men” who are trying to capture Swamp Thing. The main reason I review this tape is mainly because at one time it was a give away for a fast food place and came free with a certain Swamp Thing action figure. Come on, have fun and find this hidden gem of a cartoon as I give it 3 stars.

In the Spider’s Web (DVD) – A film from the ‘Maneater’ series that stars the man, the myth, the legend, Lance Henriksen as a mad doctor that lives deep in a jungle where he practices different experiments on spiders and harvests organs from tourists who happen to come by. Nothing really redeeming about the film except for Lance being good old Lance. I would wait for this to come on USA Network or something as I give the useless, non-extra filled DVD 1 star.

Warbirds (DVD/Sci-fi Channel) – Holy Shit… Who in the fuck Ok’d this big fucking gorilla turd about pterodactyls attacking a US plane during WWII?! Avoid at all costs as I give it 0 stars.

Wrestlemaniac (DVD) – Some twentysomethings who are going to shoot an amateur porn movie in Mexico get lost and decide to shoot the porno in a ghost town they were warned about being the resting place for the legendary Mexican wrestler who killed several wrestlers during the 60s. They get the porn shot and they die off quickly in this quick (65 minutes without credits) feature. A terrific film that could have been better with the material they already have. But I say sit back, crack open a beer, and enjoy the wrestling horror movie for what it is and that is a it being a mindless but fun slasher film. I give this film 2 ½ stars.

Ms. 45 (DVD) – An independent film from 1980 that starts out like “Death Wish” but takes a left turn and becomes one weird, fun, and fucked up film! An impaired woman ‘Thana’ walking home from work one day gets rape in a alley while someone is robbing her apartment. Then, when she finally gets herself together and makes it home she stumbles upon the man who is robbing her house and then he begins to rape her until finally she has had enough and finds a way to kill him and steals his gun (a .45). After that, she begins to look for men who talk to her, hit on her, or just look at her the wrong way and kills them with her new found gun. In the meantime, she cuts up the guy who was robbing and raping her and places different parts of him all around New York to get rid of him! Film is brilliant as she shows with her body language the exact point where her character snaps and enjoys the killing of men and not killing just for revenge anymore. This film takes the revenge plot against males to a whole new level and still sets itself apart from the great 70s film “I, Spit on Your Grave”, in my opinion, as the story unfolds beautifully. If you find it, buy it, and enjoy something you’ll never see Hollywood ever make as I give the DVD 4 stars.

Set your DVR’s…It’s FINALLY time to EXTREME SCREAM!!! Tell ALL your friends and fellow GOREHOUNDS! Spread the GERMS! Watch it live or set your TiVo…You gotta see this!!! Presents  Broadcast Nationally on VERSUS Every Thursday, Late Night 3:00am Eastern, 2:00am Central, 1:00am Mountain, 12:00am PacificBegins Thursday April 24th, 2008 To see promotional trailer for show goto http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4MqnqW-mEo ON-Q Productions has announced that the premiere episode of “EXTREME SCREAM” will finally air this Thursday, April 24 on the VERSUS Network. The show will air every Thursday night (technically Friday morning) at 3am EST, 2am CST, 1am MST and 12 midnight PST.

“EXTREME SCREAM” is a new 30-minute TV show that shines the spotlight on independently produced horror films. The show was originally scheduled to air on Superstation WGN. “We spent months working with the Programming Department at WGN to produce a horror-based show that is true to the genre, yet still appropriate for the viewing audience” said Leon Quenneville, owner of ON-Q and host of “EXTREME SCREAM”. “Our editors tried their best to show just enough of the monsters, killers, blood, sex and violence to entertain the audience while remaining within the FCC and network guidelines. But you can only edit so much, and then you lose the appeal of the whole horror-movie magic.”Darrin Ramage is the President of Brain Damage Films, the primary sponsor of the EXTREME SCREAM TV show. “I can understand the need to keep the sex and violence to an acceptable level for network television,” he said, “but my number one priority is the loyalty and respect from the GOREHOUNDS. If I continue to edit and censor the creative work of these talented independent film producers, then I’ve done a disservice not only to the artist but to the fans as well. Above all else, we have to remain true to the fans!”
ON-Q Productions and Brain Damage Films were excited to find a welcome broadcast partner in the VERSUS Network.  VERSUS is available in over 74 million households nation-wide. Beginning this Thursday night, it’s finally time to “EXTREME SCREAM”!

Fangoria Picks DEAD MOON RISING as Top Video of the month America’s premier horror magazine, “Fangoria,” picks DEAD MOON RISING as Video of The Month in the May 2008 issue. Using phrases like “…unlike so many recent DIY productions, it’s genuinely smart and entertaining,” “cleaver than you might expect, Poole maintains a perfect balance of humor and horror” and “Throughout the craziness, the cast gives their all…” the article devotes a good two-thirds of a page to a review by Dr. Cyclops, and awards DMR with a 3 out of possible 4 rating. I really want to thank the cast and crew of DEAD MOON RISING for all of their hard work, fantastic abilities and faith in my first independent feature film project. I couldn’t have done it without this wonderful team, and they deserve every word of praise that Fangoria granted us. A shout goes out to all the extras, too. You guys made the zombie scenes work, and we couldn’t have done it without you. If you don’t already subscribe to Fangoria, head to your local magazine seller and demand a copy today. If you haven’t seen DMR yet, just go to Netflix, Blockbuster online, and put it in your rental queue, or buy it from one of the many online retailers. Keep your eyes peeled for news of DEAD MOON RISING 2 – we’ll start shooting in Louisville very soon. Mark E. Milwaukee WI convention To whom it may concern,My name is James Bett Jr and I am working with D entertainment to put on Milwaukee WI’s only real Horror convention. The name of the convention is “The Milwaukee County Massacre” and it will take place in Milwaukee WI at The Wisconsin State Fair Park Grounds on the dates of June 7th and 8th. We were hoping you might be interested in becoming a vendor at this convention as we believe in your films and product and believe at a horror convention/music festival your product will sell well and it’s a great chance to widen your audience and hit a whole new customer base! This event will be quite different than most as it will be a full fledged Heavy Metal Music festival(20+ bands on 2 stages) intertwined with a Horror Convention(vendors, filmmakers, and horror celebs). From initial online response we expect no less than 2000+ visitors in the 2 day run. The good thing for all the vendors will be the fact that any attendees will be forced to walk through the vendors areas to get to any other areas of the convention so everyone is a potential customer!Booths run $150 for the weekend and we will have electricity available to anyone who may need it for an extra $50 for the whole weekend.. Gross Movie Reviews #122

By Tim Gross   “Prescription is drugs, if you think you are getting up here?!” – The Monster Squad    (Don’t forget to check two other reviews from me this week, “Fire and Ice” and the remake of “Day of the Dead” if it doesn’t get banned at www.bloodtypeonline.com )

Multiple Maniacs (DVD) – A film from the great John Waters from 1969 or 1970 which were one of his first feature length films and of course it starred Divine. The movie pretty much centers around Divine and characters that are connected to her that are in the mindset of doing everything against political correct life. Waters and Divine don’t disappoint with how much trash they can fit in one film but the only problem I had with the film is the editing, it wasn’t great but again we are talking about Waters when he was more of a raw talented filmmaker still learning his craft. The movie is for the most part ok but the ending of the film is what makes you rethink the whole movie and what Waters was actually going for with this interesting ending. I give the movie 2 stars.

The Green Butchers (DVD) – A very interesting Danish film about two butchers who have dreams of owning and running their own butcher shop in their small Danish film. The butchers are of course are complete opposites but seemed to be the best of friends on many levels. When they open their shop, nobody is interested until one night an electrician gets locked in their meat locker and dies. The one character who owns the shop ‘Sweaty Swen’ panics and cuts up the dead guy and puts it in his experimental marinade and sells it! The human meat goes over big and he is forced to kill somebody new nightly until his convince him enough is enough. There is a couple other smaller storylines within the film that is perfectly tied into the main storyline of the film about the two friends. An excellent film for any fan of foreign films! I give the DVD 3 stars.

Stripes (DVD) – Bill Murray one of the funniest men alive plays the role of Frank: an unemployed taxi driver who is pushing thirty, out of shape, and on the verge of just ending it. Until, he convinces his best friend Harold Ramis to join the army with him. They join and it is non stop laughs from there on in. Bill’s girlfriend, the MP, is played by no other, the very sexy P.J. Soles. Also look for John Candy as ‘OX’, Judge Reinhold, Dave Thomas, and quite a few other great actors! One of the funniest dam movies ever made as I give the unrated DVD which is loaded with extras 4 stars.

Tales From Beyond the Trees (DVD) – The DVD contains four short films that was a combined effort of Dark Wind Woods and Black Widow productions and from the great Indy film director Greg Laudermilt. The four films are: “Really Grim Fairie Tales”, “D-Compostion”, “Dark Wind Woods”, and “My Dying Bride”. I proudly reviewed “Dark Wind Woods and My Dying Bride” in the past but this was the first time I got to watch the other two short films which were again pretty cool, different, artsy, no budget short films that are for horror fans that are looking for something that is different from your usual Indy film fare! The films are made out of love for the film genre to begin with and have an extra on the DVD where the director Greg talks about his short films and why he enjoys making them. This is a must have for horror fans if you are looking for something different as I give the DVD 3 ½ stars and usually you can find Greg and crew at Cinema Wasteland selling their DVDs.

Resident Emo: Attack of the Emo Dead (DVD) – A no budget horror film that is exactly what you are thinking… The film was made by a young Doug Waugh who literally put together a film that had no money and went with it as proof by a gag where zombies eat a teenager on a swing and spaghetti falls out of his stomach (but funny as hell) for his intestines! The film starts off great with the main characters making fun of EMO-kids, but it steadily goes down hill mainly because of length of the film (50 some minutes), no budget, and it being more than likely his first movie. But don’t get me wrong people this no budget film has its moments! When the main EMO character goes home to cut himself, with something he got off of myspace that is supposedly a ancient cursed blade but happens to be a buzzsaw blade that had me almost pissing myself laughing! And Doug tries to do what all no budget filmmakers do and that is no budget, we need more blood… If the film would be edited down further I think it could run a little better, but I look forward to see what Doug is going to do next as this film is worth seeking out if you like no budget horror films or just making fun of EMO-Kids. I give the film 2 stars and could be teamed with another no budget film Wolfster (EMO-Wolf) to have an EMO double feature.

Class of 1999 (VHS) – A sci-fi B-movie from 1989 that has a legendary B-movie cast that consists of Stacey Keach, Malcolm McDowell, Pam Grier, Bradley Gregg, and Joshua Miller. It is the future and gangs have taken over certain cities where school does not exist. Well, Stacey Keach a scientist for the government brings in three androids to be teachers at a school that is about to reopen in Seattle where gangs pretty much rule the land. The droids begin to dish out punishment to the students and has gotten their attention, but the droids continue to try to kill off all the gang members and it becomes a war between the droids and gang members in a very entertaining battle! It’s a GREAT cheese and worth seeking out as I give it 3 stars.

Sonny Boy (VHS) – A film that claims to be made in 1988 but takes place in 1970 New Mexico that stars Brad Dourif as a lifetime criminal who steals a car for his boss ( the dude that played Pluto in ‘Popeye’) and the car just happens to have a baby in it. And Paula (David Carradine in drag) takes a liking to the baby and names him ‘Sonny’. From there on ‘Sonny’ has his tongue cut out and is raised as cannibal killing machine to do hits for his now father and mother. The movie screams B-movie and is one fucked up film! But if that doesn’t interest you then the scene of a police officer being shot with a freakin cannon will as he pretty much explodes everywhere! I give the crazy fucked up movie 3 ½ stars and a must have for all David Carradine fans!

Madhouse (VHS) – There’s at least two or three horror films under the same name but this is a psychological slasher film from 1981 that plays out like two other slasher titles that came out around the same time “Bloody Birthday” and “Happy Birthday to Me”. The movie was made with no name actors but has enough blood and guts to make it worth watching as I give it 2 stars.
