MASKED MEXICAN WRESTLERS TO PIN AUDIENCES TO SEATS LIVE AND ONSCREEN AT CHANDLER CINEMA NOCHE DE LUCHADORES!
!Aye Chihuahua! Who needs 3D when you’ve got masked Mexican wrestlers flying off the screen and into the lobby?
This time the Midnite Movie Mamacita, Valley B-movie maniac, really goes out of her cabeza by hosting the Saturday December 1 Noche de Luchadores (Night of the Mexican Masked Wrestlers), a mixed-media madhouse involving South of the Border ring barbarians both on and off the screen. The action kicks off at the Chandler Cinemas at 8 pm, with in an hour-long in-lobby wrestling card featuring masked marauders from XJAM, the outrageous indie wrestling troupe whose you-gotta-see-to-it-to-disbelieve-it exhibition will be highlighted by a no-holds-barred masked all-female bout. . .with a squadron of roller derby dolls as referees!
At 9 pm, the action moves onto the big-screen with a rare 35 mm screening of 1973’s Santo Vs the Voodoo Women, starring the legendary Santo (”the Mexican Hulk Hogan”), this time squaring off against (among other things) a voodoo queen, wrestling zombies, bad Seventies, fashion, nuclear annihilation and, alas, a dubbed French soundtrack. Fortunately, the soundtrack will be turned off during the screening, allowing local improv comedy troupes Phoenix Neutrino Project and Galapagos to ad lib dialog and sound effects a la Mystery Science Theater 3000.
But hang on to your guacamole–there’s more! Assuming the Midnite Movie Mamacita hasn’t yet beaten you to submission, the show ends with a post-screening performance by Valley garage/surf rockers The Rebel Set.
Chandler Cinemas is located at 2140 N. Arizona Ave, Chandler, AZ 85224 (in the rear of the Target Shopping Center) at the NW corner of Arizona Ave and Warner Roads, 480-821-1605. Admission is $10. Children 10 and under are free for this event! Sorry, CASH ONLY, no ATM onsite.

DVD Review of “Holy Shit… Zombiesâ€
By Tim Gross
Yes, it is here!!! The official sequel to a movie in my opinion is one of DSK’s best efforts, “Toxic Shock Zombiesâ€. Rick Fusselman, the director of “Toxic Shock Zombies†has the story pick up in “Holy Shit… Zombies†sometime after the aftermath of the first film. The president of “Zampons†does a commercial or campaign ad proving that “Zampons†was not the cause of the zombie outbreak. And to prove it he sticks one in his ass and of course coughs up blood and so on… The movie not only extends the fun of the first film but goes to even more grotesque and entertaining lengths to top the first film and make a fun low budget zombie sequel. The sequel has all the usual actors and actresses from past DSK films including the famous ‘ACE’! This film is for all horror fans that love humor in their zombie films as the film has: a Dusty Rhodes imitation, titty slapping, gore, redneck hunters who think the zombies are “cannibal deerâ€, more gore, fake sledgehammer, fake vagina, a zombie dragging a fetus, bad Avon salesmen, even more over the top gore, a guy putting a “Zampon†in his ass, lots of talk about ball sacks, bad redneck humor, and zombies that seem to come out of nowhere! I give the film 4 stars as this film is one of the most entertaining independent films of 2007. If that doesn’t interest you, it is a 2 –disc set with lots extras like: Blooper Reel, FX Tutorial, cast interviews, fan interviews, fun DSK trailers, and did I mention the multi-titty slap in the blooper reel which is worth the money alone! You can go buy it at www.dsk-productions.com .

Gross Movie Reviews #107
By Tim Gross
I had these written on Sunday but since I’ve been such a busy ass dude this week it took me a few days…
Flesh Eater (DVD) – A late 80s horror film that has the legendary Bill Hinzman directing, editing, producing, writing, and starring in this B-movie about a flesh eating ghoul that has been disturbed on Halloween deep in the woods and he is hungry! It’s a horrible low budget romp that should only be watched by the die hard “Hinzman†fans. I give the DVD 2 stars.
Burial Ground: The Nights of Terror (DVD) – Another early ‘eye-talian’ 80s zombie flick that has a professor inspecting a tomb under a mansion and does not understand until its too late that he has disturbed the tomb and its “ugly oatmeal faced zombie timeâ€! Your usual zombie fare: gore, nudity, the zombies keep coming by the hundreds. But what separates this usual zombie flick from the rest is its subplot of incest between a teenage boy and his mother. This shit gets twisted as the boy at the time of crisis begins to make out with mom and cop a feel on mother’s naked titty! Not the greatest zombie film but the subplot of incest makes this film worth the rent, the buy, whatever as long as you get to watch cinematic history! I give the DVD 2 ½ stars.
Zombie Holocaust (DVD/Theater) – An early 80s zombie film that is mostly known under its other name, “Dr. Butcher M.D.â€. For the most part the film sucks ass as it takes forever to get to the good parts which is about a mad scientist experimenting on some island people and turning them into flesh eating zombies. Once it gets to the good parts it is pretty much the end of the movie as everybody dies quick and horrible deaths along with the zombies being killed quickly also by fire and bullets. The movie feels like it is three hours long but runs barely at 90 minutes but the climax makes the film worth keeping yourself awake for! I give the movie 2 ½ stars.
Pathfinder (DVD) – The movie stars the rising movie star in my opinion, “Karl Urbanâ€. He has starred in “Doom†and the “Lord of the Rings†films. This time around Urban stars as a lone white Indian from a foreign land taken in as a child when he was found among the wreckage of a Viking ship on the northern part of North America. 15 years pass as he is still trying to find his place in the tribe that has taken him in. The Vikings land again on North America hellbent on erasing the land of Indians. What the Vikings don’t know is Karl Urban is here to protect what he considers his people by any means necessary. The fight scenes are just unbelievable! No, “300†computer animation here, not to say the film went the way of no CGI but the fight scenes were mostly live action with most of the film. Vikings cutting off fingers for necklaces, arms being hacked off in mid-fight by axes, Indians being tortured horribly, and more as this film is not for the weak of heart as the film shows how bloodthirsty the Vikings are. This film has greatly been overlooked in 2007 and deserves a watch as I give it 4 stars.
Scream Greats Volume One: Tom Savini, Master of Effects (VHS) – It has been said this documentary film has been released on DVD but I never found a legit release yet. I just still have my worn VHS copy that I thought is worth the find for any kind of Savini fan! It’s a 50 minute documentary and behind-the-scenes film about Tom Savini and his work up until the mid to late 80s. This film is perfect for not only Savini fans but those of you who consider themselves filmmakers as he talks a lot about what he did, used, and how to shoot the scenes on movie sets such as “The Prowler, Friday the 13th, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, etc.†The documentary is a great time capsule of what a lot of horror fans who grew up during the slasher age already knew. I give the movie 4 stars.
Ben 10: Race Against Time (Cartoon Network) – This review is for my daughter as I told her I would write one for it! It is the live action film of the popular Saturday morning cartoon series about a kid who gets a watch that is able to turn him into ten different aliens by mistake and uses it to fight off evil around the world or in the nearest mall. The series has actually been a surprise to me because of a lot crap that has made recently for Saturday mornings. The film was directed and executive produced by Alex “Freaked†Winter and starred Lee Majors as Grandpa who helps Ben and his alien beings fight off evil. It’s a fun and different concept cartoon and now live action movie worth watching as I give the movie 3 stars.
Unmasked Part 25 (VHS) – A film from 1990 and made in England that spoofs a lot of the American 80s slasher films. A killer who goes around from building to building killing people because he is deformed and unloved has met his match in a lovely blind woman who thinks he was her ‘blind date’. Bad at times to watch but a fun bad as the film shows how the killer struggles with his relationship to the woman and tries not to kill anymore! I give the movie 2 ½ stars.
Horror Express (DVD) – A oldie but goodie horror film about film legend Christopher Lee who plays an English anthropologist who brings what he thought was a frozen creature on board a train. Peter Cushing who is also in the movie is determined to see the creature until the creature awakens on the train and begins to kill everyone one by one. Also look for TV legend Telly Savalas, who plays an inspector trying to figure out who or what is killing everyone on the train. The movie plays out like Carpenter’s “The Thing†with the frozen creature and with TV and film legends starring in it. The film is one that should be passed by at the video store as I give the movie 3 stars.
Opera (DVD) – A Dario Argento film that plays out like the “Phantom of the Opera†for the first half of the film and then goes off into its own direction like most of Argento’s work. I give the DVD 2 ½ stars.
Déjà Vu (DVD) – Denezell Washington plays an ATF agent trying to investigate a bombing of a ferry in New Orleans. Washington’s character is baffled by the reasons why the person behind it did the bombing until he is approached by some other agents who are working on a new top secret government experiment. The agents show Washington that they are able to go back 4 days and 6 hours into the past from whatever time it is now. Washington eventually believes everyone can be saved if they try hard enough to do it. It’s a great mainstream sci-fi action film that I thought was overlooked for what it really is and that being a really cool sci-fi flick! I give it 3 stars.

The Debut of Sequelitis
When Horror Sequels Go One Step Too Far!!
Evil finds its way home this week on DEADPIT Radio, and by Evil…we’re talking about evil shitty sequels as we debut a new show entitled ‘Sequelitis’ it’s when the studios push a franchise right into the grave. In this edition we discuss Stephen Hopkins’ ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child’ from 1989 and Rick Rosenthal’s ‘Halloween Resurrection’ from 2002. The horror doesn’t end there however, as we go through the week’s news, take some phone calls (with a few surprise guests from the After Dark Horror Fest ‘07) and review horror dvd goodness as always including: The Brad Pitt Slasher film ‘Cutting Class’ , Tim Sullivan’s sophomore effort with DDP starring ‘Driftwood’ , the brand new Synapse Films release of Frank Henenlotter’s horror comedy ‘Basket Case 2’ , Anchor Bay’s new 20th anniversary edition of ‘Hellraiser’ and the brand new 2 disc edition of Creepshow released by Universal in the UK. All of this and more this week on the original horror talk radio show…DEADPIT.com!

Gross Movie Reviews #106
By Tim Gross
Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice (DVD) – It took eight years to make a sequel but they did. The film opens with the children of Gatlin being shipped off to the next Nebraska town after authorities find a mass grave in a basement of a house. For some reason making it like it picked up from the end of the original film. So with what’s left of Gatlin’s children they still believe in the spirit of the corn and of course it is time to kill more adults. The film is cheesy, bad, and worthless but for some strange I just find myself drawn to watch the film again from time to time. But the topper of the sequel is they try to tie up loose ends from the original which is the least of the sequel’s problems, meaning the several others that came after this. I give this hard to find DVD 1 star.
Basic Slaughter (DVD-R) – The latest project from Steve Rudzinski who gave us the micro-budgeted classics “Wolfster and Wolfster Part 2â€, is about a killer with no motive, just a killer who dresses in all black and goes around Rotary, Pa. killing random people! Not the best film from the talented filmmaker Steve Rudzinski but has some redeeming things about it like a cameo appearance by myself getting killed while playing on a “swing setâ€, some cool gore effects for no budget, and some comedy relief from Henrique Couto playing a news reporter is keeping you up to the minute on the recent killing spree! The DVD also has lots extras worth checking out including an interview with the killer who stays in character during the interview which almost made me piss myself laughing at it! I give the movie 2 stars, but I’m looking forward to more projects from Steve in the future and you can find out more about this project and others at www.darkmulletcinema.net .
Vacancy (DVD) – Kate Beckinsale and Luke Wilson play a couple who are on the outs and traveling to Kate’s parent’s house and get lost. The only thing around is a old gas station and a ratty looking motel so with that the car breaks down and they are forced to stay at the motel. Shortly there after the couple realizes they are being watched for some strange reason and eventually find out they are going to be a part of a snuff film made by the man who runs the motel. The movie has some fun cheap scares, and doesn’t go too overboard with acting or plotline and keeps it simple and effective. The ending is something to be desired but the overall film is worth renting as I give the movie 2 ½ stars.
Day of the Dead (DVD) – The third film in Romero’s ‘dead’ series that was thought to be his last at one point. The film is considered a masterpiece by most for its political overtones or it’s over the top gore or even for Romero showing the evolution of zombies the longer they rule the world as we once knew it! It’s hard to say what exactly contributed to this great zombie film except that everything from the actors and actresses to Savini’s effects to the man that played “Bub†the zombie all had a part in bringing horror fans a perfect look at the future of when zombies rise from their grave and take over. The film works on so many levels as most of the film is filmed underground in close because the zombies have driven mankind and the military to the brink of extinction! If you have never seen George Romero’s masterpiece zombie film, turn in your horror movie fan membership card in now as it is perfect and can be watched over and over without getting old! I give it 4 stars of course.
Bats: Human Harvest (DVD/Sci-fi Channel) – An American scientist experiments on bats in Russia that kill everyone and anyone he wants them to until the America’s finest find him and screw up his project! Nothing great but I’ll give it 1 ½ stars.
Come Get Some! (DVD) – A black and white, micro budget zombie film from the south. A washed up agent is sent to a small town to clean up a small zombie outbreak but instead runs into resistance from local rednecks that don’t want him around. The washed up agent eventually gets help from four hot looking ass kicking women who have been trying to get rid of the rednecks. Not only does the ass kicking women get rid of the rednecks they help save the day from the zombie plague! The film has a great soundtrack; it’s shot well, but paced poorly in my opinion until the last 15 minutes where the fun begins with everybody fighting zombies and rednecks performing every WWE finishing move in the past five years! The DVD is worth buying for the last 15 minutes and if that doesn’t get you, yes the women get topless at one point during a dream. I give the DVD 3 stars and you can find it at www.comegetsomethefilm.com .
Abbott and Costello Meets Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (VHS) – A black and white classic starring the famous comedy team meeting Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. It’s one of many of their classic films of teaming the duo up with all the Universal Monsters among other creatures and such. This classic never gets old but can be found on DVD here and there as it has been released two or three times before and packaged with some of their other classics. I give the movie 3 stars.
Zombi 3 (DVD) – The film is also known as Zombie 3 but it is too long of a story to explain how it came to be, but the film is also known for Fulci never finishing the film because of illness. Fellow director Bruno Mattei took over for Fulci which some horror fan’s eyes was a mistake. The film was made several years after Fulci’s classic original and is no where as good as the original but here we go? For the most part it’s a splatter zombie film that lacked a lot but has terrorists mistakenly open a case that holds a virus called, ‘death one’. Apparently the government has been using it to experiment on dead people with horrible results. But once an infected body is burned and the ashes go into the atmosphere its all over for mankind as dead begin to rise and eat everyone in the world until they can be stopped by the government. I give the movie 2 stars.
Zombie 4: After Death (DVD) – A sequel by name only has voodoo zombies jumping around and killing anyone who sets foot on their island! The movie is mostly known for being directed by the man who wrote the script for the cult hit “Nightmare Cityâ€! I give this DVD 1 ½ stars.
Devil Dog: Hound of Hell (DVD) – A two disc set for a late 70s Made-for-TV movie about a dog that is possessed by the devil. The German Shepard puppy is given to a brother and sister shortly after their family pet has been ran down in the street by the legendary actor R.G.Armstrong so you know there is something wrong with the dog right away. But it is up to Col. Troutman or should I say “First Blood’s†Richard Crenna to protect his family from the devil dog. It’s not a great movie by any means but a great flashback type of film of what movies were like in the late 70s as I give it 2 stars.

Gross Movie Reviews #105
By Tim Gross
City of the Living Dead (DVD) – One of my favorite Fulci films of all time! The film has also been called “Gates of Hell†and “Seven Doors of Death†in the past, but “Gates of Hell†title is the one that has stuck with it most of time when being shown in America. Now I’ll admit the film isn’t as awesome as the other Fulci films such as “Zombie†or “The Beyond†but this film has always stuck with me for it having one of the coolest kill scenes of all time! Where a crazed father grabs a man running from evil going ons who is being blamed for a girl’s death and puts his head on a drill press and has the drill go through his head! Now of course Fulci did not pull away has there has always been the one death scene in a Fulci scene that sticks with everyone and this is mine. But let’s talk plot: A priest hangs himself opening the doors to hell, the dead rise, people puke up their own organs when seeing the priest, a much slowed paced movie with some of the greatest gore scenes ever to be in a horror film. Did I miss anything? Oh and a soundtrack that stays in your head for months on end. Soon as you hear the first couple notes you know its “City of the Living Deadâ€! Agree or disagree this is one of Fulci’s finest films ever and Fulci in my opinion does not get as much credit as he should for making some of the greatest gore films to date! I give this flick 4 stars; go buy the son of a bitch!
Of Darkness (DVD) – This short film turn out to be a nice surprise… It’s a story about a kid who finds a book (Book of the Dead) in his basement and is told by his older brother that it was a older relative’s and he was into Satanic rituals. Now of course the younger brother blows this off and waits for no one to be home to invite his friends over for pizza and horror movies. Well, on a dare the youngest friend opens the book and sees something that changes him and strange things begin to happen in the house. Lights begin to go out and ‘darkness’ swallows up the kids one by one screaming for their lives. The short film is original, scary as fuck, and just plain brilliant! This is one of the best low budget short films I’ve seen and that is saying a lot… so go find out more about this kick ass film at www.darknessiscoming.com or www.myspace.com/ofdarkness as I give it 4 stars!
Biophage (DVD-R) – A black and white low budget film about a plague that has taken over America. The movie mostly revolves around two men (a microbiologist and a army ranger) trying to make it back from the CDC in Atlanta to good old PA with info that might help stop the plague. But there is one scientist that has other plans since he works with his wife who cheated on him not to long ago with the army ranger. Along the way they fight each other, find a man who lives alone and is a cannibal, and a girl who doesn’t have the plague yet. The film is well shot, the zombies are very cool looking, and the movie is paced well, but the problem with the film is it doesn’t separate itself from the glut of zombie films already out there in low budget movie land. Its predictable, not enough gore, and knowing what you’re getting beforehand can be good and bad with zombie films but don’t let that stop you from checking out Mark Rapp’s film. I have a feeling this film is only a prelude to what is coming our way from Mark, as I only think his next project or projects will get better. I give the film 2 ½ stars as you can find out more at www.biophagethemovie.com .
Hallowed Ground (DVD) – It’s 1896 and a crazy priest in a small farm community has everyone convinced they need to sacrifice people who commit sins to help keep crows away. Of course he gets killed for it by a neighboring community only to come back to life over a hundred years later when a tabloid reporter and a drifter are in town and investigate the legend. It has its share of blood and tries to keep you in disbelief with the storyline of the townspeople bringing him back to life but does not finish well. Stick with cool scarecrow horror movies like “Scarecrows†or “Night of the Scarecrow†as I give this movie 2 stars.
The Tripper (DVD) – Who in the piss would have thought David Arquette “former WCW champion†and star of the “Scream†films would make a cool slasher film? Well, he did with stars like himself, Jason Mewes, Courtney Cox, Paul Reubens aka Pee Wee Herman, and even a cameo by Wes Craven as a hippie! A hippie festival is going on in the California woods and all the hippies are showing up to do drugs, have sex, and listen to music except that a person dressed as President Reagan is killing everyone with an axe! The movie is just fucking awesome as it not only sets it up for you to guess for awhile who is the killer but also sets up for a sequel you will want to happen! David surprising gave us a bloody fun ass slasher film that I give 3 ½ stars too!
Family Portraits (DVD) – Three short films by Douglas Buck with Tom Savini doing the special make-up effects in the first short. The first short is called, “Cutting Moments†that is about a man and a wife who are depressed and the wife does something unspeakable just to get the attention of her husband and an ending that has you thinking if you are married! Second film is called, “Home†that is about an abused man who constantly flashes back to his childhood to his abusive father and ends with him killing his whole family and feeling like life is better in some way. The third film is called “Prologue†that is about a woman who has been crippled in an accident or was it involving a decorated older postal worker. This film I thought was the worst of the bunch as it dragged for periods of time trying over dramatize what actually happened. But overall the short films were excellent but very depressing films in a lot of ways. The DVD has an assload of extras worth checking out if you enjoy the short films. I give this DVD 3 stars.
The Big Racket (DVD) – A 70s Italian flick that has a police inspector fighting criminals who are trying to take protection money from everyone in the city. When the inspector is fired he takes upon himself to get other criminals to help take down the crime ring. Lots of action, lots of bad dubbing, but just one bad ass fun action film if I ever seen one! I give it 4 stars!

Anubis Digital Studios has just signed horror icon Tony Moran for director Mark E. Poole’s supernatural action film, REQUIEM FOR THE FALLEN. Moran was the definitive “Michael Myers” in John Carpenter’s groundbreaking horror classic HALLOWEEN series.
Moran has been offered many roles since Halloween, but was looking for a break from derivatives of the mute masked menace. In REQUIEM, Moran is the King of the Archangels – he will deliver swift and devastating vengeance on those that dare to interfere with his mission on earth.
“To have Tony Moran as the primary protagonist in our second feature film (REQUIEM FOR THE FALLEN) has energized the entire production team,” says Poole. “All of us are excited about the prospect of working with the man behind the legend.”
Moran lends a mythological legitimacy to Poole’s Gothic vision of earth becoming a dark battleground between heaven & hell, the fallen and the heavenly host, the redeemed and the damned.
It also gives REQUIEM FOR THE FALLEN instant name recognition, practically assuring festival venues for showing the film prior to theatrical release, and assisting in securing distribution.
Anubis Digital Studios is the creative team behind the award-winning zombie/comedy DEAD MOON RISING.
Anubis Digital: Quality entertainment, worth watching.
REQUIEM FOR THE FALLEN is a Gothic story of condemnation and redemption, fallen angels and demons. Forget what you learned in Sunday school; REQUIEM is a mash-up of BLADE RUNNER and CONSTANTINE, told in the visual style of “300″ and UNDERWORLD.
Between Heaven and Hell rages the battlefield of the soul…
REQUIEM is in pre-production, and is planned to start filming in early 2008.

Zombie Fest 2007 was a feakin’ great time. Words can;t even begin to describe. I just have to thank the It’s Alive gang for putting this thing together and their fans, The Lifeless, for making it all the more fun. I also have to thank Russ, Sandy, Bruce and Rich for their blood, sweat and tears for keeping the show running. Lastly much thanks and kudos have to go to Becca for organizing the panels, taking care of our sorry asses, putting up with our shit, and being one hot ass zombie. I hope she, and the others, had this week of because they definitely deserved it. We already can’t wait until next year.
Not to mention that the Zombie Walk broke it’s own record this year with over 1000 undead walking around Monroeville Mall. Pittsburgh fucking owns zombies!
If you missed it, you suck.
