Posted by Tim on September 18, 2007

(A big Thanks to Runk Russell of www.bloodtypeonline.com)

Below is an announcement from Redsin Tower’s director Fred Vogel regarding the DVD release of his latest movie. Debuting at Cinema Wasteland! I am so fucking excited. One of my favorite films of all time! -Runk

THE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT

Greetings Sicko’s,

It was been a very exciting year for us here at TOETAG. Last October we premiered The Redsin Tower to a sellout crowd at OUR favorite Horror Convention CINEMA WASTELAND, a week later Shelby and I got married. Right after the wedding was the Pittsburgh Premiere and After Party. Then we were off to NYC for a sellout screening at the Pioneer and the Living Dead Dolls Art Show. TOETAG returned home to complete the final August Underground film PENANCE and release it in time for April’s Wasteland. Not to mention, the excitement of the Fantasia Festival and gracing the cover of Rue-Morgue Magazine. I can’t believe it’s almost October and Cinema Wasteland is right around the corner.
As you TTP FANS probably know we’ve premiered almost all of our films at WASTELAND. Also it’s where you can get all the newest TOETAG merchandise, before it even hits our Webstore. So what’s new from TOETAG you might ask? Well how about getting The Redsin Tower ON DVD.

We’ve had distribution companies’ contact us for the rights to Redsin but we believed that know one could give this film the proper treatment, so TOETAG and Xploited Cinema are proud to announce the single disc version of The Redsin Tower. This DVD contains: an anamorphic 16×9 version of the film with commentary by TOETAG, Butchering Becky - a behind the scenes look on how the FX came into play with commentary by Jerami Cruise, a Still Gallery with music from Scott Hull and 2 trailers.

You will be able to pre-order Redsin here at TOETAG and Xploited Cinema. By pre-ordering, you will receive a Redsin Tower Patch along with the movie. Pre-orders end on Oct. 9 so act now to get your limited edition patch complements of TOETAG and Xploited Cinema.

So the official street date for the movie is Oct. 10 but if you can make it out to Cinema Wasteland you can get the movie before anyone else. I encourage you to make it out to this show. Like I said before it is our favorite show and has the best parties and cool people. This show lets us mingle with our long time fans, as well as turn people on to TOETAG who have never heard of us. There is also a midnight screening of August Underground’s PENANCE with an introduction by Superfan Rob the Ripper.

Again, we would like to thank you TTP FANS for all your support through the years. You are the black blood that keeps us pumping.

Stay Sick
Fred Vogel and TTP

Gross Movie Reviews Vol 1

Author: Tim Gross

Published 2006

Being a reviewer myself I always find it interesting to read what other folk think of some of the movies I have reviewed. Sometimes we agree, sometimes we don’t, and in the case of some of the movies covered in this book chances are you won’t have heard of half of them.

Tim really has dug around at the bottom of the pile to find some really obscure movies to review, and after reading this book it only makes me want to search out some of them to see if they really are that good/bad. There are also a lot of well known flicks covered here, but really it is the passion for the smaller movies that held my interest; he really does love this stuff!

The reviews themselves are generally short and to the point, often with large doses of humour thrown in for good measure. Even after one or two paragraphs you really do get a sense for what the movie is all about, such is the style of writing. On occasion he does add in a longer review, usually for the more independent movies that (at the time of publishing) were only available from the movie’s website. Personally I welcome this as regardless whether he liked the flick or not he is giving exposure to these movies.

There are times where there are a few grammatical inconsistencies, whether this is the fault of the author or the publisher is beyond me, but it didn’t take away the enjoyment I got from reading this book. I flew through it and it only makes me want to get my hands on Volume 2, which I will be ordering in the near future.

So, if you want the lowdown on such faire as Dr Horror’s Erotic House of Idiots, Miner’s Massacre or more known movies like Hellraiser of The Grudge I recommend you check this book out. Bloody good stuff indeed!

Rating 8/10

PRODUCTION WRAPS ON THE DEAD MATTER. POST-PRODUCTION UNDERWAY.

Posted by Tim on September 18, 2007

Cleveland, Ohio - Production on The Dead Matter wrapped at 5am on September 2nd. “I couldn’t be happier,” said Director Edward Douglas. “We got everything I was hoping for and so much more. The entire cast and crew really delivered on all levels. This movie is going to resonate with a lot of horror fans - we really have something special here.”

“The Dead Matter is definitely a character-driven horror film, so a lot rides on our actors. They all really came through for us. Between the performances by our veterans and our newer faces, audiences are going to be in for a real treat,” said Douglas.

Douglas credits the successful production phase to Producer Gary Jones, the FX team at Precinct 13, Director of Photography Alex Esber, UPM/AD Philip Garrett, and an “incredibly talented” crew of film veterans mixed with an enthusiastic group of hard-working production assistants. “It’s an ambitious script. We were only able to complete it on time because of the tremendous talent, teamwork, and perseverance our crew exhibited.”

With a projected release date in 2008, post-production on The Dead Matter has already begun. That includes work on the next Midnight Syndicate release, The Dead Matter Soundtrack due out in August of 2008. More details to follow.

Photos from the production and a video trailer for the behind the scenes feature, The Making of ‘The Dead Matter’ are available at the official The Dead Matter website: www.TheDeadMatter.com.
