FANpit featuring your thoughts on Rob Zombie’s Halloween!!!
Evil has a destiny…unfortunately it’s to suck. This week on Deadpit Radio, CK and UB discuss everything related to Rob Zombie’s newest clusterfuck of epic proportions- the Halloween remake/reimagining/thingy. We’ll be taking your calls and discussing the horror of it all, from dialog that makes . Also, we have reviews in two different formats this week: magazines and DVDs. First, we have a review of Rue Morgue magazine issue #70 from our Canadian brethren. Inside you’ll read an exclusive, in-depth interview with Zombie himself, as he talks about re-inventing a masterpiece. Next, we have reviews of DVD titles including Steven Grainger’s taunting zombie invite “Come Get Some More!”, ‘Heir’ Uwe’s second vamptastic installment “Bloodrayne 2: Deliverance”, Anthem Pictures horroromedy that should have stayed on the “Cutting Room” floor, and Dario Argento’s nepotistic nightmare “The Stendhal Syndrome”. All of this plus a new video segment with renowned horror host Chester Grim, new DVD giveaways, “tagline” horror trivia, and more of the dueling horror hosts you have come to fear…only on Deadpit.com
Accept NO imitations…….we ARE the innovators of Horror Talk Radio!!

With less than three weeks to go before the release of Stupid Teenagers Must Die! on DVD, the filmmakers have decided to announce the bonus features that will be included on the disc. According to STMD! director, Jeff C. Smith, “Our distributor told us the maximum amount of space we could use on the DVD was 125 minutes. We gave them 125 minutes worth of stuff.†The “totally loaded†DVD will include:
- A 30 minute “Making Of†Documentary entitled Movies Are Bullshit! The Making Of Stupid Teenagers Must Die!
- Audio commentary with director Jeff C. Smith and actor Jovan Meredith.
- An Audience Reaction Audio Track recorded at the STMD! premiere.
- A “special†interview with STMD! cast member Will Deutsch.
- The STMD! Internet Trailer.
Stupid Teenagers Must Die! is currently available for pre-order at Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, BarnesAndNoble.com, Tower.com and many other online retailers. The DVD will be released on Tuesday, September 25, 2007. More information about the film can be found at www.StupidTeenagersMustDie.com or by logging on to www.myspace.com/StupidTeenagers.
Set in the 1980’s, Stupid Teenagers Must Die! tells the story of a group of teenagers that hold a séance in a haunted house. All the typical 80’s horror movie characters are there: the cool hero, the innocent girlfriend, the goth chick, the tough guy, the beautiful blonde girl, the shy guy in love with the beautiful blonde girl, a couple of lipstick lesbians and two big geeks.
In true low budget 80’s horror movie fashion, weird things start happening around the house. One dimensional characters are dying preposterously bloody deaths, girls are getting naked for no apparent reason and people walk into dangerous, pitch black rooms saying classic lines like, “Is someone in here?” As the poor, hapless kids are sliced and diced, it’s up to our hero to lead the remaining survivors to safety before the house is filled with stupid dead teenagers.

Gross Movie Reviews #98
By Tim Gross
The Traveler (Theater/DVD) – This film sucked big ass donkey balls, plain and simple… This low budget independent release is an example of what not to do when making a very low budget film. This film is so bad in my mind that it has replaced “August Underground’s Mordum†as the worst movie I had to watch. The whole movie was a big fucking mess from script to finished product. But I do have to say the actors and actresses were not that bad and were just working with what they had, but otherwise be warned to stay away from this shitfest! I give it negative stars. If depressed and interested in abusing yourself you might find it or when its being released at www.braindamagefilms.com .
Caved In: Prehistoric Terror (DVD) – Giant beetles attacking cavers… I give it 3 stars!
Beer League (DVD) – Artie Lange from the Howard Stern radio show gets a starring role in a film that is pretty much about his life without the Vegas hookers! Starts out funny but you just want it to end by halfway through, I give it 2 stars.
Backwoods 2: The Revenge of Caleb ‘rough cut’ (DVD-R) – A year later, Robert Elkins using no money once again, to make a sequel to one of the best slasher films of 2006! The sequel has the tagline: ‘A field trip straight to hell’! This time around Robert keeps it simple for the sequel unlike many filmmakers who try to top their first film and fail. Students on a field trip breakdown in the middle of nowhere and it happens to be near where Caleb lives! Of course the students scatter throughout the woods to explore, have sex, and smoke pot until the bus is fixed. But Caleb wastes no time in adding to his body count bumping off students left and right! An excellent micro budget slasher sequel that is worthy of the original! I give it 3 ½ stars and you can find the first film for $13 at www.filmbaby.com .
Megasnake (Sci-fi channel/DVD) – Lots of blood and guts… Lots of CGI snake… and everyone getting eaten! Pretty solid cheese flick, I give it 2 ½ stars.
Halloween (remake) (Theater) – Rob Zombie brings his remake of the most famous slasher horror film a lot of people’s minds to the big screen that focuses more on the early years of Michael Myers. The film has lots of blood and gore unlike the original and changes the original characters a bit. The film dives into what makes young Michael “pure evilâ€. The movie has its moments and I actually think Rob Zombie did not a bad job at making a good modern day slasher film, but the problem is he remade the best one of the bunch that is near perfect and burned into not one but two generations of horror fans! I honestly think if he tried to make a film about a fucked up kid who kills things under a different title this film will be received better. But if there is one reason you should see this film besides the cool gore and blood FX, it would be Danielle Harris being naked in the film. It’s not for a quick four seconds. Her naked body gets lots of screen time and she should be proud! Move over Tiffany Shepis, Danielle is very, very hot looking! I give the film 2 ½ stars, I seen worse remakes and I seen better remakes. When I think about it, outside of Danielle Harris just being a hot and talented babe the film was far from groundbreaking!
Night School (VHS) – An early 80s slasher film about somebody dressed in dark clothes and rides a motorcycle around town to kill women who belong to a local women’s college with a unique knife. Lots of beheadings and blood, I give it 2 ½ stars.
Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (DVD) – A film about a documentary by film graduates who find a man who is training to become the latest known killer like Michael Myers, Jason, and Freddy Krueger. When it comes to the night that Leslie has set up to kill his victims one of the filmmakers has a change of mind of not interfering with what Leslie is about to do. Instead of saving the victims the filmmakers end up becoming part of body count. A cool and interesting horror film that all horror film fans need to watch. I give it 3 ½ stars.
The Jar (VHS) – A horror film from the early to mid 80s that is completely different than what the cover of the box makes you think. He cover has this mutant thing coming out a jar, and you think its gotta be like “It’s Aliveâ€. But then you get 84 minutes of a psychological look into the mind of man who goes completely insane after finding this jar that has this mutant in it. If you are into David Lynch you more than likely enjoy this mindfuck of a film. I give it 1 star mainly because it’s not my thing.
Attack of the Mutant Space Alien X from the Planet Y (DVD-R) – Dave Myers Jr. who had a part in one of my favorite zombie films “Zombie Cult Massacreâ€, decided to make a film he could put his kids in. And this is the film you get. A film that is in black and white has Conrad Brooks as the president, and the kids are alien hunters in 1948. Odd but a funny short film worthy of all the family watching and enjoying. But what makes the film over the top is Conrad petting his dog in the movie and dog decides to try and bite Conrad during a scene which had me laughing for the next 5 minutes! I give it 3 stars.

Erie, Pa.- The Eerie Horror Film Festival announced today that legendary horror punk band The Misfits will be performing at their after hours party on Thursday, October 11, at the Cell Block in Erie, Pennsylvania.
Formed in 1977 by Glenn Danzig and Jerry Only, and fueled by a love of old horror movies, The Misfits are one of the most popular and influential punk bands of all time.
Their music has inspired generations of musicians and bands including Metallica, Pantera, Slayer, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, Guns n Roses and most recently, My Chemical Romance.
Though Danzig parted ways with the band in the 1980’s, Only has kept the band alive and vibrant for decades, hitting paydirt with the release of 1997’s “American Psycho” album and it’s follow up, 1999’s “Famous Monsters”.
Despite several line up changes over the years, The Misfits, with Only at the helm, have toured the world and are more popular today than ever, selling out shows to rabid fans across the globe.
The current edition of The Misfits includes former Black Flag member Dez Cadena and original Misfits drummer Robo.
The Misfits appearance is sponsored by the Eerie Horror Film Festival and The Cell Block.
Tickets will go on sale sometime in early September. Details to follow.

For generations an uneasy truce has existed between the beautiful, blood-drinking prostitutes of Bathory House and a band of vampire-hunting mercenaries sworn to destroy them should any townspeople be killed or “turned.” But now a young woman wanting a new life has given herself body, blood and soul to Bathory’s Madame, and there will be hell to pay - and plenty of it.

Album, “Poet” release, Ghost music video, and debut shows draw near
Hello everyone,
With each passing day, the release date of my first album, “Poet”, draws near. We have recruited an awesome drummer, Csaba, to play the drum tracks on the album which I am really excited about. We are also putting together the synopsis for the first music videos to “Ghost” and “Ghost” (Nether Realm remix). The video/s will be premiered on a couple tv and internet tv shows. We are preparing for the first two shows as well. We are compiling our hour long set that we are to play at the Greater Cleveland Gallaria and Arts Festival and SPARXX Gallary Hop. There will also be other acts there including a jazz saxaphonist. This takes place in Cleveland, Ohio at the Gallaria at Erieview. For more info, visit http://www.northcoastpromo.com
The second show will feature us doing a 20 minute set. This will be the Harvest Moon Coffeehouse at the Fellowship Hall of the Bryn Mawr Church of Christ. The theme for this show is “Under A Gypsy Moon.” It is Sunday September 23 and starts at 7:00pm. Admission is FREE and there will be coffee and other refreshments provided. The lineup of the evening is Scott Helland & His Traveling Band of Gypsy Nomads (coming out from New Paltz, New York), the world music group Vequinox, myself, and Chuck Owston & Dead Man’s Shilling with Gypsy Dancer, “Angel.” The location is 2901 State Street White Oak, PA 15131. Jason and I had the privilege of sitting in at the rehearsal of Dead Man’s Shilling for the show and let me tell you that you are in for a real treat. Chuck, Jason, and I also discussed doing some recordings during the winter months after “Poet” is released. Chuck has some great material. Although I like writing my own music, I also enjoy working with other artists and collaborating our styles together. We also may record songs like “Greensleeves” that unfortunatly didn’t make it on the “Poet” album due to space and time constraints.
Well, I shoot my cameo in “Heavy Mental” this weekend. Wish me luck:)

CARMILLA’S KISS, the debut film by Pittsburgh based writer/director Michael McGovern makes it’s world premiere with a huge celebration at Cefalo’s restaurant and nightclub on Sept. 7.
CARMILLA’S KISS is a dark comedy about a stage director who takes his eccentric cast to a cellar to rehearse his play based on the Gothic vampire tale “Carmilla.” The cellar, once an ancient place of worship, comes complete with its own sacrificial altar. During the course of the evening strange things begin to occur as inhibitions break down and tempers flare–horror becomes the night in the final moments of the movie.
The premiere will be a semi-formal affair complete with live music performances by Marla Degenhardt, Sacred Dominion (both are featured on the movie’s soundtrack) and Race The Ghost. The midnight performance of Sacred Dominion will include projected images and portraits taken during the production of the film.

Richmond, KY- August 25, 2007- JOHN DUGAN RETURNS TO THE SCREEN IN ZP INTERNATIONAL’S “MONSTROSITY”
Fresh off of a standing room only screening at the 2007 FRIGHT NIGHT FILM FEST, the latest feature from ZP International, “MONSTROSITY” is now available on DVD.
Featuring John Dugan of the original “TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE”, “MONSTROSITY” is the fifth feature film from director George Bonilla. Bonilla is best known for the award-winning feature “THE EDISON DEATH MACHINE” and the cult hit, “ZOMBIE PLANET.”
John Dugan became a horror icon with his portrayal of ‘Grandpa’ in the 1974 classic film, “THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE.” “MONSTROSITY” is his first feature film in nearly two decades. Dugan is a regular on the horror convention circuit.
“I had an absolute blast, ” said Dugan, “MONSTROSITY was great to work on.”
“MONSTROSITY” was screened to the public for the first time ever at the 2007 FRIGHT NIGHT FILM FEST held in Louisville, KY this past weekend. The reception and reaction was tremendous.
“BREATHING ROOM ONLY!!! Amazing!,” said Ken Daniels, organizer of the festival. “Gil the engineer said to me, that of the 3 regular screening rooms, “MONSTROSITY” had the largest crowd… Amazing job. Monstrosity rocks!!!”
Due to the incredible amount of interest, ZP International Films has decided to make a limited amount of “MONSTROSITY” DVD’s availble for purchase before it goes into full distribution. The DVD is currently only available through www.zpmovies.com These are NOT pre-distribution screeners, but rather glass-mastered retail ready DVD’s with all of the special features. There will be less than nine hundred of these available for purchase before the late fall street date.
This is a unique opportunity to see John Dugan’s triumphant return to the screen before anyone else. “MONSTROSITY” also stars Billy W. Blackwell, Stacey T. Gillespie, Leslie Rogers, Tony Armstrong, Cassie L. Young and Clint Napier. ZP International films is based in the greater Lexington KY metro area. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Louisville, KY August 21, 2007
In an awards ceremony held at the Clarion Conference Center on Sunday August 19, 2007, the judges of the FRIGHT NIGHT FILM FEST awarded the Silver Screen award for Best Zombie Film to DEAD MOON RISING, directed by Mark E. Poole of Louisville. DEAD MOON RISING had previously won the Audience Award for Best Feature at the Cine-Fest 2007 and Best of the Fest at BIG DAMN FILM FEST 2007 in Cincinnati.
DEAD MOON RISING was shot in Louisville Kentucky, with a cast of 14, crew of 10 and well over 1000 extras.
DEAD MOON RISING played to a standing room only crowd on Saturday. “I’m glad they laughed in all the right places, and everyone had a great time,†said Poole.
Prior to the screening, Mark E. Poole presented the “Zombie of the Century†award to DAWN OF THE DEAD zombie stars Jim Krut, Leonard Lies, Clayton & Sharon Hill and thanked them for their contribution to George Romero’s works, which served as an inspiration.
The fans of DEAD MOON RISING raised $50 for Saint Joseph’s Children’s Home of Louisville, in the form of a raffle for a T-shirt. The “Cheap Skate Car Rental†shirt was a wardrobe item worn during filming, and signed by the cast & crew of DEAD MOON RISING. Tucky Williams, who played “Vix†in DEAD MOON RISING, drew the winning number out of a hat prior to the showing of the movie. The T-Shirt winner was Charles Edward Pogue, screenwriter of THE FLY, PSYCHO 3, DRAGONHEART, KULL THE CONQUEROR and many others. Mr. Pogue stayed on to enjoy the screening of DEAD MOON RISING.
“My cast & crew exceeded all of my expectations and I could not have dreamed for any better or dedicated professionals,†said Poole, “But all of us are so overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of all the fans of our film. We want to thank the local community for all of their support for DEAD MOON RISING.â€
Poole expects pictures from the event to be posted on the DEAD MOON RISING (www.DeadMoonRisingMovie.com) website shortly.

Hello folks-
We at DEADPIT Radio are hoping to get the word out about our two-part interview with horror legend John Carpenter which begins on Friday August the 24th. This is a career retrospective we do with the man and the interview lasts a little over an hour. We’d very much appreciate a mention on your website/newsletter if at all possible. Here’s a little information about DEADPIT Radio:
Let me acquaint you with DEADPIT.com. We are the longest running, and very first horror talk radio program of its kind. Our website features all of the archived radio programs as well as written reviews, interviews, video featurettes, a highly active fan forum, our own exclusive merchandise and much, much more. A new show is up weekly every Friday on the website. The DEADPIT Radio shows feature: news (which includes new dvd announcements), observations, interviews with stars from the horror genre (including Tom Savini, Sheri Moon Zombie, Joe Dante, Angus Scrimm, Lucky McKee and dozens of others), fan participation/call in segment, and most importantly dvd reviews. We of late have featured weekly horror trivia contests and give away sponsored dvd prizes to the winners.
We would welcome the opportunity to cover your dvd products on the show, our audience is ever growing and as of now (18 months since our inception) we reach an average of 3,200 listeners each week, and our website DEADPIT.com recieves nearly 2 million page views every month. DEADPIT at present time is associated with several major genre studios including: Fox Home Entertainment, Severin Films, Anchor Bay Entertainment, Universal Home Entertainment, Media Blasters, Synapse Films, Blue Underground, and others. We’re always looking for other ways to improve the program and get the word out about as many horror projects as possible.
The hosts of the show are Wes ‘The Creepy Kentuckian’ Vance, and Aaron ‘Uncle Bill’ Frye , two southern fried genre fanatics who are gradually achieving cult celebrity status in their own right. They’ve been featured on: Rue Morgue Magazine’s radio program, Bloody-Disgusting.com, Scars Magazine, KillerReviews.com, DreadCentral.com, and were special guests at Louisville Kentucky’s Fright Night Film Festival for the 2nd year in a row this August. They were recently announced as featured horror critics appearing on The Horror Channel which is also available at www.horrorchannel.com .
The acclaimed, award-winning filmmakers at ‘Rusty Robot Productions’ began shooting a documentary on DEADPIT Radio and its rise in their new film ‘Into The Pit’ this summer.
