Zombie Fest 2007

Posted by Tim on June 2, 2007

Last year, on an early Sunday morning in October, history was made when the undead took over the Monroeville Mall.

This year, it’s going to happen again…
only it’s going to be even bigger!

The It’s Alive!
2007 Zombie Fest

The It’s Alive!
2007 Zombie Fest

Building on the success of last year’s Guinness World Record-setting Monroeville Mall Zombie Walk, the producers of The It’s Alive! Show, seen Saturdays at 10:00 PM on WBGN-TV Pittsburgh, will present the It’s Alive! 2007 Zombie Fest on October 27-28, 2007 at the Monroeville ExpoMart. The Zombie Fest promises two full days of movies, music, merchandise, and pure monster madness!

Hosted by Professor Emcee Square and the cast of The It’s Alive! Show, the Fest will include a 200-space vendor exhibit area, live demonstrations and seminars, film and video presentations, live music performances, celebrity guests, and more. Festivities will also include the Saturday night Zombie Ball, as well as a follow-up to last year’s record-setting Zombie Walk at the Monroeville Mall.

Last year, the Monroeville Mall Zombie Walk—which took less than 4 weeks to plan, organize, and promote—drew over 1,000 people, 894 of whom participated in the event in full zombie regalia. This year, with the advantage of greater planning and promotion, and bolstered by the Guinness World Record title, the 2007 Zombie Fest is expected to draw more than 3,000 horror and rock and roll fans from around the tri-state area.

The people who attended last year’s Zombie Walk represented all ages and all walks of life, from children and teens to parents and grandparents, from high school and college students to business professionals, and everyone in between. Though many learned about the event via the Internet, by word of mouth, and through a grass-roots poster and flyer campaign, most learned about it from the on-air ads run during The It’s Alive! Show.

The It’s Alive! Show, featuring classic horror and sci-fi movies, comedy, and live music, is broadcast on WBGN-TV out of Pittsburgh, PA. The station’s over-the-air coverage area encompasses all of the greater Pittsburgh area, as well as parts of Ohio, Virginia, and Maryland, and includes over 1 million households. In addition to its Saturday, 10:00 PM television slot, the show can also be seen 24/7 via streaming video on the web at www.theitsaliveshow.com.

This year, event organizers plan to take advantage of these same marketing opportunities, plus additional TV and radio promotion, print advertising, and more. Companies who support the 2007 Zombie Fest through sponsorship will also be able to take advantage of these efforts, in addition to being represented at the event itself on bags, banners, and signage; in the on-site program; and on official event merchandise.

By sponsoring the It’s Alive! 2007 Zombie Fest, your company’s name will not only be delivered directly into the hands of every attendee, you’ll also gain additional exposure through the event’s various marketing and promotion efforts!

Estimated attendance over two days: more than 3,000 (including Saturday evening Zombie Ball and Sunday morning Zombie Walk attendees). Upper level sponsors gain additional exposure through on-air and print advertising, news releases, web banners, etc.

The Zombie Fest also offers table space for exhibiting vendors, in addition to sponsorship opportunities. It’s Alive Show sponsors will receive a 20% discount on table rates.

Happy Cloud Pictures announces their cast for their latest film!

Posted by Tim on June 2, 2007

Happy Cloud Pictures is proud to announce that several new names have joined the cast of Splatter Movie: The Director’s Cut, the fourth feature film from the Pittsburgh-based independent film company. The new additions include Aaron Bernard (Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, Abattoir), Bill Hahner (Severe Injuries), Tiffany Warren Yarbrough (Blood Bath: Blood Wrestling), Nikki McCrae (G. Cameron Romero’s The Screening) and Debbie Rochon (Nowhere Man, Fangoria Radio)!

Splatter Movie: The Director’s Cut tells the story of an independent production company set up at a haunted attraction to shoot both a horror movie and the simultaneous making-of documentary, unaware that the set is being stalked by a killer masquerading as one of their own performers. As filming progresses, the line between what’s real and what’s fiction begins to blur—and then vanishes entirely! Without giving much away, the producers have revealed that Bernard is playing one of the movie’s cameramen, Warren playing an “obnoxious engenue”, Hahner will appear as a grip with anger issues, McCrae as the crew’s Assistant Director, and Rochon, a veteran of more than 150 independently-shot shorts and features, will appear in the film as herself in both the feature and “Tesseract”, the movie-within-the-movie being shot by the fictional crew.

Directed by and co-starring Amy Lynn Best (Abattoir, The Resurrection Game), Splatter Movie will mark Rochon’s sixth collaboration with Happy Cloud Pictures. “Debbie’s been with us since the beginning and is largely responsible for a lot of our earlier success and contacts in the industry,” Best says. “It’ll be great to work with her on Splatter Movie. Especially since, like [co-star] Tom Sullivan, she’s playing herself in scenes written specifically for her [by screenwriter Mike Watt (Dead Men Walking, editor Sirens of Cinema Magazine)].”

While much of the plot of the film—particularly the identity of the killer, dubbed “Grendel”—is a closely-kept secret, Best acquiesced to dropping a few bits of information. “The film definitely gets weirder as it goes along, heading into almost Dali-esque territory at times. I’m directing and playing the director. Debbie’s playing herself and, at the same time, playing herself playing herself being stalked by a crazy crew member in the fictional movie, ‘Tesseract’. There are multiple levels to every scene, including documentary footage that will be partly real and partly staged. It should result in a very bizarre film but one that horror fans will hopefully find pretty satisfying.”

Of the cast, only McCrae stands out as having never previously worked with the Happy Cloud Pictures family. “We met Nikki at other people’s auditions,” says Best. “And she and Aaron have worked together before, so I’m sure she’s going to be a great addition to the movie and, hopefully, to the family. Our repertoire company has really grown over the years—we have so many talented people amongst us.”

Set to begin shooting in June at the Pittsburgh attraction The Hundred Acres Manor (http://www.hundredacresmanor.com/), Pittsburgh’s only 100% volunteer based tri-themed haunt benefiting Homeless Children’s Education Fund and Animal Friends, Splatter Movie: The Director’s Cut also stars Elske McCain (Poultrygeist), Sofiya Mina Smirnova (Abattoir), Rachelle Williams (Jess Franco’s Take Away Spirit), Alyssa Herron (Severe Injuries), Nic Pesante (Countess Bathoria’s Graveyard Tales), Stacy Bartlebaugh-Gmys, (Abattoir), Jeff Waltrowski (Project Valkyrie) and Don Bumgarner (The Dread).
