Indy Filmmaker JD Casey has passed away
Posted by Charlie on May 28, 2007I only me t him once or twice, but JD Casey was a true friend to the genre we love and independent filmmaking. He touched a lot of lives and will be sorely missed. Debbie Rochon knew Joe better than I did so I asked her if she could write a few words on his behalf.
“Joe Casey, known professionally as JD Casey, was a true friend. He taught me how to be a great person through his endless support and friendship. He was a filmmaker. I starred in 2 of his movies and I was so proud to see how much he had grown in the short amount of time as a director. He was a fan. I had met him in the early 90’s at conventions and he was so generous with his time and help he was one of the few who you could easily and comfortably go with from fan to friend having no weirdness attached. He did nothing but give and support his whole life. I miss him every single day. He sent me flowers with every new radio job I started. He would meet me at the airport with flowers and a smile. He did this for many people not just me. He was the first to post things on my message boards, almost all of which were congratulatory posts about my films jobs or life related stuff. He was my dear friend and I will miss him. I am proud to say he was my fan, filmmaker and friend. He was a class act and there will never be another like him.”
Thank you Debbie for giving Joe the justice I couldn’t. God bless you Joe.
