Guys and Gals,

Here’s what I am looking for…I need a gal age 18-30 that can come be the most ditzy secretary on the face of the planet! I mean a wall is interesting kinda of thing. This is obviously a comedic role and in an adlib film…I will give you one hint…She presents herself in a whip cream bra and everyone is confused. The character was in the first film, but the actress had passed away and now we need someone to fill her shoes. The character shoots come June 4th (During the Day and has speaking multiple scenes). So if you are not cast in the film already, send us an adlib monologue and show how ditzy you can be on any of the following formats…Mini-Dv, DVD, VHS, VHS-C, 8mm, Digital 8, and S-VHS. We would need this by Friday, May 18th and the winner will be announced come the following Monday May 21st. If you have any questions you can email us at LAN_EMAIL_SUBS. Here’s the address to send to…

Posted by Tim on May 15, 2007

Hey boys and ghouls!

As most of you should know by now, filmmaker (and Eerie Horror Film Festival Vice President) Mark Steensland has a movie showing at Cannes this month! (Yes, THAT Cannes, the most prestigious film festival on the planet!)

“Lovecraft’s Pillow”, a short film based on a suggestion by Stephen King, has been earning rave reviews on the fest circuit and lots ‘o press these past few months.

Click on the link below to read the most recent article about this incredible little movie -

The film stars a host of talent from the Erie area, including Shannon Solo (well known DJ, weatherman and musician), Christine Mangone, Scott Frisina and yours truly, Rev. Greg! The film was written by Steensland and Rick Hautala and produced by Steensland and Bradley Cliff and was made possible by a host of dedicated locals including Monster Mark (Eerie Horror Fest board member and filmmaker), Nick Warren, Timm Rensel, Harold J. Hotchkiss and Kristin Steensland.

Mark is currently working on his new film “Dead@17″.

Here’s to his continued success!!!

RIP (Nicholas Worth)

Posted by Tim on May 15, 2007

Very sad news to report: the Los Angeles Times reports that actor Nicholas Worth, known for villainous roles in numerous horror features, died of heart failure Monday at Van Nuys’ Valley Presbyterian Hospital at age 69. After work in blaxploitation movies (starting with 1973’s SCREAM, BLACULA, SCREAM!) and TV in the ’70s, Worth first caught serious attention from genre fans for his performance as deranged strangler Kirk Smith in 1980’s DON’T ANSWER THE PHONE! (recently released on uncut DVD by Deimos/BCI Eclipse, with a Worth interview; see review here). Wes Craven subsequently cast him as one of Louis Jourdan’s henchmen (paired with David Hess) in 1982’s SWAMP THING, in the 1984 TV movie INVITATION TO HELL and as the uncredited voice of the Reaper in 1985’s THE HILLS HAVE EYES II. Worth was also a bad guy in Sam Raimi’s DARKMAN (1990), in which he memorably confronted “himself” (actually the titular hero in a false face).

His other genre credits include 1987’s HELL COMES TO FROGTOWN and the Full Moon flicks DARK ANGEL: THE ASCENT (pictured, 1994) and BLOOD DOLLS (1999), along with episodes of sci-fi TV such as THE X FILES (“The Goldberg Variation”), SLIDERS and the STAR TREK series DEEP SPACE NINE and VOYAGER. Worth attended FANGORIA Weekend of Horrors conventions in both New York and LA and was a cultured and erudite guest—the very antithesis of his often fearsome film roles. Fango mourns his loss. —Michael Gingold
