Gross Movie Reviews #84

Gross Movie Reviews #84
By Tim Gross

The Boneyard (DVD) – A great cult classic that stars Phyllis Diller who for the most part is known for her role on Hollywood Squares Game show and her voicing her special guest appearance on Scooby-Doo cartoon to a whole generation. She runs a city morgue where bodies are being brought in at a rapid rate and uses her mean-ass poodle to attack anyone who isn’t admitted to the morgue. This film is horrible and strange to say the least but sports lots gooey and gory fun, mutant poodle, killer midgets, and just one weird ass storyline. This is a must find for bad movie hounds! I give this DVD 3 stars.

The Mailman (DVD) – Possibly the worst serial killer film yet and of course released by Lionsgate Films. The film centers around a man who seen his dad kill his mother and her other man then himself, so apparently the man was a mailman so the guy goes searching for his brother and kills random people along the mail route. Want to abuse yourself? Rent this shit! I give it 0 stars.

Kiss My Galaxy (DVD) – The back of the DVD claims to be DSK-Productions fourth film and was made in 2004. Its no “Toxic Shock Zombies” or “Hot Justice” but it has the usual DSK-going-ons. An alien lands on earth; the alien is searching for a female so he can repopulate his planet. The alien is horrible but you quickly get over that when you see the redheaded female the alien finds and pimps out to earth men. She doesn’t do anal as her character announces quite often but is more than willing to get topless and show off her talents and those are ‘Grade A’ talents folks! But again exception for the very hot looking girl being pimped out the movie lacks humor, storyline, and just plain great micro-budget filming that they have done recently with films like “Toxic Shock Zombies” and “Hot Justice”. I give this DVD 1 star, but if interested because you are a DSK fan or just want to see this really hot chick, you can buy this at www.dsk-productions.com .

Grindhouse (Theater) – Before I get into reviewing this over 3 hour movie fest, let me just say this to Robert Rodriguez, “Thank you, thank you, it is nice that somebody in Hollywood still gets it!” Now that being said lets talk about the movie fest. ‘Grindhouse’ begins with the fake trailer “Machete” which is just off the chart in being cheesy, funny, and capturing what action movies were like during the late 70s and early 80s. Then the first film “Planet Terror” started. This zombie film is in my opinion the most fun, goriest, zombie fest since Dead Alive! “Planet Terror” deserves to be talked about in the same breath as George Romero’s “Dawn and Day of the Dead”, Edgar’s “Shaun of the Dead”, and Peter Jackson’s “Dead Alive”! I’m not kidding here folks; Robert gave horror fans a zombie film that has not the big screen much in a lot of years. Rose’s go-go dancer, one-legged character is just the topping in what is going in this starred-filled zombie bloodbath. Several small storylines are all going on at once but eventually all run into each other as the film goes on. For the most part the movie centers around Rose’s character as she looses her leg in a zombie attack and it’s up to Freddy Rodriguez’s character who just wants people to know he is nobody to save her and gather survivors and get them through this town being overrun with mutating zombies! The film has it all: hot women, great actors, lots and lots of over the top gore, Bruce F’N Willis, and of course a government secret experiment! “Planet Terror” is a beautiful work of art! Now on to “Death Proof” starts very slow but builds to a 20 minute climax that is like no other in movie history that was all about cars. The movie stars muscle cars, period! But the scene stealer in this film is of course Kurt Russell has “Stuntman Mike” who in my opinion should have had more screen time! Kurt owned this character from the start and almost makes you feel sorry for him at the end of the film. But unlike Rodriguez going totally away from anything he did, Quentin still made the film in his style which to me seems to not fit into what they were exactly going for with this “Grindhouse” project! But not to take away from “Death Proof”, it has just a killer scene where you see ‘Stuntman Mike’s’ car back tire ride up an actress’s face and peel it like an apple. Sick shit people. I loved it! But if anything comes out of this second part of the double feature is Kurt Russell still knows how to make genre fans happy! In between the double feature three other fake trailers were shown, first Rob Zombie’s “Werewolf Women of the SS” which is everything and more of exploitation. It was perfect… The second trailer was Edgar Wright’s “Don’t” which is paying homage to films like “Legend of Hell House” or any Vincent Price films during the late 60s or 70s. Awesome… Then came Eli Roth’s “Thanksgiving”. A very funny ass trailer for a 70s like slasher film that centers around a man who dresses as a pilgrim and begins to kill people on “Thanksgiving”! Overall the double feature was a great experience and lots of fun for horror fans and film buffs. I give it 4 stars, go see this film, you won’t be disappointed!

Frankenhooker (DVD) – The man that gave us Basket Case and Brain Damage gave us this awesome feature in 1990 which is a film like no other. A man who was studying to be a doctor watches his girlfriend get killed by a runaway lawnmower! So of course the depressed man keeps the head, a foot, a hand, and decides he’ll get hookers and use their body parts to put together a perfect woman for his girlfriend’s head! Not a lot of gore, but lots of bad humor, and lots of T & A, and once “Frankenhooker” is together it is none stop laughs from there. Another classic in my mind and something that needs to be seen, so seek this out especially to see the interviews and other extras for the film, I give the DVD 3 ½ stars.

Dark Harvest 3: Scarecrow (DVD) – Thanks to Lionsgate I must suffer through watching a useless, crappy, incoherent sequel that has no business being seen by the viewing public! This movie will most likely cause severe brain damage in most horror fans! So if by some chance you are going to a video store and see this, please carry a lighter and lighter fluid so you can burn that son of a bitch right there in the store! I don’t even feel like giving it stars!

The Feeding (DVD) – A small budgeted werewolf film which was surprising worth checking out. Now it isn’t the next “The Howling”, “Dog Soldiers”, “Ginger Snaps” or “American Werewolf in London” but it is a little movie with a cheesy werewolf, some cool blood and gore. The movie is about a forest that has had all its deer disappear and this has happened in two other states and a Special Wildlife guy comes along to kill it! Like I said it’s nothing great but it is worth renting if you come across it at the video store. I give this 2 ½ stars.
