Ed Gein:The Butcher of Plainfield
Posted by Charlie on March 27, 2007Kane Hodder does an excellent job for his first starring role without a mask. He is sufficiently creepy as a demented killer. I just wish he had been playing Ed Gein in this boring piece of poop. For whatever reason, Gein is played as a serious, steel-eyed killer who offs anyone who gets in his way. The real Ed was supposedly a likable, soft spoken man who kept to himself and had a few mental problems. The Gein in this movie may have just as well been Leatherface. The gore was straight out of a modern day torture flick. The pacing of the movie kept me glued to the inside of my eyelids.
If you are a Kane Hodder fan, I’d say rent it because he does do a good job despite the rest of the movie. Ed Gein aficionados should stick with the Steve Railsback version or Bob “Porky’s” Clark’s Demented.
