Fifth City Trailer

Posted by Charlie on January 16, 2007

From the team that unleashed Shockheaded onto an unsuspecting world comes the trailer for Fifth City! Directed by Eric Thornett and starring Christi Etcher (Shockheaded) and Cash Flagg Jr. (Lethal Force), Fifth City is a martial arts sci-fi action movie. When an object from outer space is found by an innocent woman, she must team up with an unemployed limo driver to battle the forces of evil that are trying to take over the city. The film boasts a number of indie filmmakers and actors in cameos such as Eric Stanze, DJ Vivona, Todd Rohal, Mike Z, Amy Lynn Best, Mike Watt, and Jasi Cotton Lanier(Ed. Note: not to mention a performance that needs to be seen to be believed from your beloved Bastard, Charlie Fleming).

The trailer can be found here:

WARNING: This movie is is so extreme that in scientific tests, it killed four mice out of seven. And of the three surviving mice, two had serious stomach aches, and the last was pretty grumpy. However the grumpiness has not been linked directly to the trailer…that mouse was always a jerk.

Gator attacks a passed out man in Lakeland, Florida!

Posted by Tim on January 16, 2007

It’s happened again… Somehow men who do crack, do not learn? Apparently for the second time in four months or so a man who was doing ‘crack’ on a beach in Lakeland, Florida was attacked by a gator who tried to eat the man’s arm and leg as he was passing out from doing ‘crack’! The man during the attack made a phone call to the police and now the attack of course has made “you tube, myspace, and other internet sites”. I’m sorry for anybody thatdoesn’t see humor in this, but I found it to be funny as fucking hell, especially after hearing the taped phone call!

CINEMA WASTELAND - March 30th, 31st & April 1st, 2007
LAN_EMAIL_SUBS

SPECIAL GUESTS WILL INCLUDE:

From Faster Pussycat, Kill!… Kill!

TAURA SATANA - Taura started exotic dancing at the age of 13 years old. Her dancing career led to guest appearances in films such as WHO’S BEEN SLEEPING IN MY BED? (1963) and OUR MAN FLINT (1966). Taura Satana is also an accomplished martial artist and those skills landed her roles in popular TV shows like BURKE’S LAW, THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. and THE GIRL FROM U.N.C.L.E. etc. She combined her dancing and martial arts skills for her most well known role as “Varla”, de facto leader of the man-eating, sports car driving, go-go dancer gang in Russ Meyer’s FASTER PUSSYCAT! KILL!… KILL! (1965); a film that has gone beyond simple cult status over the years. You can also find Taura Satana in ASTRO-ZOMBIES (1968), THE DOLL SQUAD (1974) and MARK OF THE ASTRO-ZOMBIES (2002), a trio of cult “drive-in” movies from long time Wasteland friend, Ted V. Mikels.

HAJI - You’ll find animal rights supporter and environmentalist Haji in some of the best films the drive-in had to offer in the 60s and 70s. As the knife wielding “Rosie” in FASTER PUSSYCAT! KILL!… KILL! she could be gentle as a kitten or as tough as nails - Often times in the same scene. Russ Meyer was obviously smitten with Haji and used her again in MOTOR PSYCHO (1965), GOOD MORNING… AND GOODBYE (1967), BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS (1970) and SUPERVIXENS (1975) where she also served as makeup artist. You can catch Haji as a hippie chick kidnapped by big furry monsters in BIGFOOT (1970), on the wrong end of a slave auction in ILSA, HAREM KEEPER OF THE OIL SHEIKS (1976) and as “Laura” in Larry Buchanan’s “lost” cult classic HUGHES AND HARLOW: ANGELS IN HELL (1978) to name but a few.

LORI WILLIAMS - Lori was free-spirited blond bombshell “Billie” in Russ Meyer’s FASTER PUSSYCAT! KILL!… KILL! (1964). She also showed up in A SWINGIN’ SUMMER (1965), IT’S A BIKINI WORLD (1967) and was a regular performer on the 1969 and 1970 seasons of the LOVE, AMERICAN STYLE TV show.

From Helter Skelter:

STEVE RAILSBACK - After finding himself a fixture in NY theatre during the late 60’s and early 70’s, highly talented actor Steve Railsback got his film break when Elia Kazan offered him the role of “Mike Nickerson” in THE VISITORS (1972). After a couple of other film roles, he shocked audiences with his portrayal of cult leader Charles Manson in the made for TV movie, HELTER SKELTER (1977), which remained the highest rated TV movie until ROOTS came along a few years later. Not wanting to be typecast, Railsback sought out other challenges like his role as “Pvt. Prewitt” in the FROM HERE TO ETERNITY (1979) TV mini series and as “Cameron” in the black comedy, THE STUNT MAN (1980). Although he’s had numerous roles in non-horror films and dramas, Steve Railsback returned to more of what most Cinema Wasteland attendees may know him for in films like TURKEY SHOOT (1981), TRICK OR TREATS (1982), ALLIGATOR 2: THE MUTATION (1991), THE VISITOR TV Series (1997), and THE HITCHER 2 (2003). In 2000 he once again delved inside the mind of a schizophrenic serial killer with his outstanding portrayal of “Ed Gein” in the film, IN THE LIGHT OF THE MOON (2000), which was released here in the states simply as ED GEIN. Switching gears again, he played “Sheriff Ken Dwyer” in THE DEVIL’S REJECTS (2005), where he’s called to investigate the motel murders left by the family of killers.

MARILYN BURNS - Marilyn played “Sally Hardesty”, lone survivor of the original TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (1974), but her other horror movie credits will be of equal interest to all Cinema Wasteland fans. Marilyn took the role of “Linda Kasabian” in the 1976 made for TV movie, HELTER SKELTER, she played “Faye”, a vacationer who unwittingly stumbles upon a hotel run by a madman who feeds his guests to his pet alligator in Tobe Hooper’s EATEN ALIVE (1977), appeared in the Drive-In stinker KISS DADDY GOODBYE (1981), rejoined fellow TCM alumni Ed Neal in the shocker, FUTURE-KILL (1985), and had an uncredited cameo role as a patient on a gurney in THE RETURN OF THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (1994). Marilyn doesn’t do all that many appearances, and ever since we held our 30th Anniversary TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE Reunion back in the Spring of 2004, Marilyn has become one of our single most requested return guests. We couldn’t be happier to have her back again for another round of Wasteland madness.

EILEEN DIETZ - Although she hasn’t done a million convention appearances, every time I see Eileen Dietz on a guest list, the only credit anybody ever gives her is THE EXORCIST (1973). True, Eileen was the face of the demon, Pazuzu (aka Captain Howdy), and Linda Blair’s double. Yes, she was in the “possession” make-up and in that cold room every bit as much as Linda Blair was or more, and yes, she was never credited for her role in the film. Every fan knows she was in THE EXORCIST, and most every fan can pick her photos out from Linda Blair’s with ease. I guess what I’m trying to say here is that Eileen Dietz has done more than just one movie in her career, and a few of them have totally earned her a spot as a valued Cinema Wasteland guest. Before the world ever knew her as Eileen Dietz, an adolescent Eileen Scott stared in TEENAGE GANG DEBS (1966) where she played Gang Deb “Ellie”, and the exploitation drama, THE GAMES PEOPLE PLAY (1967). From there, THE EXORCIST (1973) followed. Then she appeared as a Manson family member in HELTER SKELTER (1976) {She’s the girl who gets the freeze frame at the ending credits}, and had roles in PARTS: THE CLONUS HORROR (1979) and THE FREEWAY MANIAC (1989) to name a few of her “horror’ credits. Along the way, Eileen was “Sala” in the 1974 sci-fi TV series KORG: 70,000 B.C., appeared in the PLANET OF THE APES and HAPPY DAYS TV series, did a stint on General Hospital in the early 80’s and appeared in several non-horror films and TV movies. Recently Eileen has appeared in all kinds of horror related projects including CONSTANTINE (2005), KARLA (20060 and CREEPSHOW 3 (2006) to name a few.

From Roger Corman’s Cult Classic, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS:

JONATHAN HAZE - Working steady for A.I.P. and Roger Corman, Pittsburgh, PA native Jonathan Haze was all over American Drive-In’s in the 50s and 60s. He first appeared as “Joe” in MONSTER FROM THE OCEAN FLOOR (1954), played “Charlie, the Pickpocket” and was the fight advisor in SWAMP WOMEN (1955), and showed up in DAY THE WORLD ENDED (1955), IT CONQUERED THE WORLD (1956), NOT OF THIS EARTH (1957), SAGA OF THE VIKING WOMEN AND THEIR VOYAGE TO THE WATERS OF THE GREAT SEA SERPENT (1957), TEENAGE CAVE MAN (1958), and a few Westerns and teenage Rock ‘n Roll movies before landing the role of “Seymour Krelboyne” in the cult classic LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS (1960) where he appeared in one of the first scenes Jack Nicholson did as an actor on the screen. You can also find Jon Haze acting alongside Jack Nicholson in THE TERROR (1963), Ray Milland in X: THE MAN WITH X-RAY EYES (1963), Wings Hauser in VICE SQUAD (1982) and as a crooked cop in THE SAINT VALENTINE’S DAY MASSACRE (1967) to name a few of his more “wasteland” roles.

JACKIE JOSEPH - Jackie played “Audrey Fulquard” in Roger Corman’s LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS (1960) where Jonathan Haze hoped to impress her by naming his mutant cannibal plant after her. You can always count on director and drive-in movie fan Joe Dante to use some of his childhood favorites, and he used Jackie in GREMLINS (1984) and GREMLINS 2: THE NEW BATCH (1990) where she played “Sheila Futterman alongside LITTLE SHOP alumni Dick Miller. Jackie and Dick showed up again in SMALL SOLDIERS (1998) as well. Over the years, Jackie has done a ton of TV roles. She appeared in classic episodes of PETER GUNN, BORIS KARLOFF’S THRILLER, THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW (she was Ernest T. Bass’ love interest Ramona “Romeena” Ankrum), THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW, THE WILD WILD WEST, F TROOP, THE MUNSTERS, HOGAN’S HEROES, GOMER PYLE U.S.M.C., THE BRADY BUNCH, POLICE WOMAN, QUINCY M.E., and NEWHART to name but a few of the more popular series she appeared on. As far as voice work, Jackie started on the film ALAKAZAM THE GREAT (1960), voiced the character “Melody Valentine” on all of the different JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS TV series and did various voices on assorted SCOOBY-DOO episodes.

CHARLES B. GRIFFITH - Writer, director, and occasional actor Charles Griffith is another hero of the early Drive-In era. He wrote and worked on some of the most well known films Roger Corman and A.I.P. released, including IT CONQUERED THE WORLD (1956), NOT OF THIS EARTH (1957), A BUCKET OF BLOOD (1959), and BEAST FROM HAUNTED CAVE (1959) to name a few. With ATTACK OF THE CRAB MONSTERS (1957) and THE LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS (1960), Charles Griffith not only wrote the screenplay for two of the best known Drive-In quickies ever made, but he also produced, did second unit direction, and acted in both films as well. (You can catch him as “Tate” in Crab Monsters and as a dentist patient, flower shop robber who gets eaten, and the voice of killer plant “Audrey 2” in Little Shop.) In the late 60’s, Griffith worked on popular-at-the-time biker films like THE WILD ANGELS (1966) and DEVIL’S ANGELS (1967) and followed suit in the 70’s working on sex comedies like the Little Shop spoof PLEASE DON’T EAT MY MOTHER (1973) and THE SWINGING BARMAIDS (1975). He directed EAT MY DUST (1976) the movie that launched Ron Howard’s film career, wrote and did second unit direction on Paul Bartel’s classic DEATH RACE 2000 (1975) and even showed up in Bartel’s cult-cannibal-comedy EATING RAOUL (1982).

Other Guests in Alphabetical Order:

AMY LYNN BEST - Amy Lynn Best, a Pittsburgh PA native, has studied acting and dancing since she was three years old. She co-produced and co-stared in the independent feature horror film, THE RESURRECTION GAME (2002), and like many independent film producers, she learned the film business from the ground up. On the short haunted house film, TENANT, Amy studied cinematographer from that film’s director of photography, Bill Fuller. Out of necessity, she learned the basics of grip work, camera operation, and the fine art of line producing. Since meeting her film making husband, Mike Watt, she has acted or worked on nearly a dozen films, including the critically-acclaimed feature, AMERICAN NIGHTMARE (2000) directed by Jon Keeyes and starring Debbie Rochon. Amy recently appeared in Paul Scrobo’s DR. HORROR’S EROTIC HOUSE OF IDIOTS (2003), a funny parody of the B movie industry starring Debbie Rochon. She has several other current film roles waiting release, and is writing her first feature film script, entitled ENVIOUS MOON.

RON BONK - Ron began making movies in 1992. Although his main interest was in directing and producing, the necessity of making sure his movies sold with honest accounting also fell on his own shoulders, so he ventured into distribution. With the success he had marketing his own productions, other filmmakers offered Ron their work to distribute as well. It wasn’t long before the demands of a running a successful B-movie distribution company took over any time he had left for directing so in recent years, Ron has become more of a producer; establishing two production divisions of his company in St. Louis and Lexington and making movies to meet marketplace demands. His company, SRS Cinema, now represents over 200 movies and Ron has directed or produced over 24 feature motion pictures over the years. Among his many ventures, Ron established the B-Movie Hall of Fame in 1998 and the B-Movie Film Fest in 1999. Both have gone on to great acclaim and he hopes to establish a museum in Syracuse for the Hall of Fame one day. Recently Ron started production on CLAY, his first feature length directorial effort since 1999. Ron is a modest guy and long time fan of the films he makes, produces and distributes. He and SRS Cinema have been a part of the Cinema Wasteland Movie and Memorabilia Expo for years now so we felt it was high time we actually listed him on the site.

RYAN CAVALLINE - Ryan began making movies at the age of fifteen. At eighteen he formed 4th Floor Pictures. In 2002 Ryan completed SERIAL KILLER, his first full length feature film. Receiving good praise from critics, Ryan followed it up with the horror ‘n action flick DEMON SLAUGHTER (2003) and DEAD BODY MAN (2003), which won the 2004 Screaming Stoner Award for best horror/comedy. DAY OF THE AX (2004), DEAD BODY MAN 2 (2005), and HOUSE OF CARNAGE (2006) followed and Ryan is currently producing several independent films. In 2005 Cavalline joined forces with Ron Bonk and formed SRS Underground, a new division of Sub Rosa Cinema. You can find out more about Ryan Cavalline and his movies at www.4thfloorpictures.com or www.b-movie.com. You’ll be able to find Ryan Cavalline at the Sun Rosa/B Movie Theatre tables this Spring and we will be screening HOUSE OF CARNAGE some time over the weekend.

SHARON CECCATTI - Sharon’s most well known “cult” role may be that of the “Nurse Zombie” in George Romero’s DAWN OF THE DEAD (1978), and due to finding her zombie image on pictures, posters and books, that image is known the world over. She’s also appeared in films like KNIGHTRIDERS (1981), where she also did location casting, and shows up as the blond nurse in HELLRAISER 3 (1992). Sharon spent over 20 years as a casting director and worked with such directors as Ron Howard, George Romero, and Michael Chapman to name but a few; did an eight year stint assistant director of operations at a music amphitheater that hosted everyone from Ozzy Osbourne and AC/DC to Billy Joel and Brooks and Dunn, and has scouted locations for films that has taken her as far away as Spain and Morocco looking for bullring locations. She even joined the David Copperfield Tour and traveled the world helping to put on 500 shows a year for the world renowned magician.

JOHN DUGAN - If you do more theater than film work over the years like John Dugan has done, then having a film like THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (1974) under your belt is never a bad thing. John played “Grandpa” in Tobe Hooper’s original horror classic, and played the role so well that many people actually thought that the role was played by an old man. Twenty years after the original, John showed up in THE RETURN OF THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (1994) as a Cop during the hospital scene. He was in the process of moving when we held our 30th Anniversary Texas Chainsaw Massacre Reunion back in 2004 and we just couldn’t find him to invite him to that show. Drag out all of your cool TCM stuff for another signature as John will be making up for lost time with attending fans at our 2007 “Spring Spectacular.”

CLAYTON HILL - Known as the “sweater zombie” in the US and as the “escalator zombie” in Germany may make for some confusion, but as a lead zombie in George Romero’s DAWN OF THE DEAD (1978) both titles are actually true since Clay found himself in several scenes and numerous photos along with his wife, Sharon Ceccatti the “nurse zombie”. Clayton Hill was also the weapons coordinator for DAWN and got the job of handing out, and keeping track of all the guns and weapons used in the film. Clay has had several credited and uncredited roles in films over the years, including KNIGHTRIDERS (1981) where he also served as second assistant director, and HELLRAISER 3 (1992) where he played the Priest in a cool, stand out scene. He has cast over 25 films as a location casting director along with wife Sharon, works as a location scout for films, and actually appeared in illusions with magician David Copperfield.

BILL HINZMAN - Bill Hinzman began his film career behind the scenes as a photographer and cameraman. He began his career in front of the lens as the infamous “Graveyard Zombie” in George Romero’s NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1968). He went on to work with Romero again on his little seen THERE’S ALWAYS VANILLA (1971), was the cinematographer on THE CRAZIES (1973), and quickly appeared in the nightmare sequences in SEASON OF THE WITCH (1973) where he also did lighting and camera work. As a director, Bill brought the world THE MAJORETTES (1986), and produced, directed, and edited the gory little cult classic zombie flick FLESHEATER (1988) also known as “Revenge of the Living Zombies”. Bill was also a producer, cinematographer, and/or appeared in SANTA CLAWS (1996), the 30th anniversary edition of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1999), CHILDREN OF THE LIVING DEAD (2001), and SALOONATICS (2002) to name a few. He’s worked on documentaries, sports highlite videos, low budget horror films… It’s safe to say our old friend Bill Hinzman likes to stay busy and he’s always working on one project or another. Be sure to stop over and see what he currently working on.

STANLEE HOUSTON - Whether you love horror, comics, science fiction or just fantasy art, award winning self taught artist, Stanlee Houston, has pretty much done it all. He’s designed photo-realistic images for comics, books, magazines and movie markets. Stanlee has even been sought after by some big name art directors for concepts and ideas on up coming film projects. Stanlee will be on hand all weekend to sign prints of his work, and he’s always willing to give free art demonstrations to any interested fans that stop over and say hello. He will also be bringing some original paintings and drawings fresh from his studio, so save your pennies and there just might be an original art piece in your future.

CAMILLE KEATON - As a young girl Camille found herself in a handful of European horror films and thrillers that include playing the victim in WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO SOLANGE? (1972), Riccardo Freda’s TRAGIC CEREMONY (1972), DECAMERON 2 (1972) and THE EVIL EYE (1973). Her biggest claim to fame came as “Jennifer Hill”, the rape and assault victim who gets her revenge in director Meir Zarchi’s DAY OF THE WOMAN (1977) - much better known to every fan as I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE. You can also find Camille in RAW FORCE (1982) and THE CONCRETE JUNGLE (1982) to name a few.

JOE KNETTER - Joe Knetter hails from Rochester Minnesota. He writes sick and twisted horror stories and began his career writing for Splatbooks where he was part of four short story collections entitled “Self Mutilation” (Volumes 1-3) and “Bodily Fluids”. In late 2004 Joe left Splatbooks and released the short story collection, “Twisted Loneliness”, which features an introduction by long time character actor, Sid Haig, who also plans on recording the audiobook. Joe’s ready to roll with his debut novel, the much talked about “Zombie Bukkake”, and is just waiting for a publisher. Joe Knetter has been part of Cinema Wasteland for the past several years now and proudly declares it one of his favorite conventions to be a part of. On Saturday afternoon, you’ll be able to join Joe in the smaller guest and screening room for a reading of some of his work, a few stories, or some sort of inane drunken silliness of sorts. Don’t wanna miss that now do you?… Didn’t think so.

CAROLINE MUNRO - Actress, model, and pin-up Caroline Munro landed her first modeling job for Vogue at the age of 17 after her mom entered her into a “Face of the Year’ newspaper competition and she won. She moved to London to pursue modeling and found small uncredited acting jobs in films like the James Bond thriller, CASINO ROYAL (1967). Although she had no lines and went uncredited as Vincent Price’s dead wife “Victoria” in the two popular DR. PHIBES films, they did help land her a Hammer Films contract and Caroline went on to become Christopher Lee’s victim in DRACULA A.D. 1972 and battle bloodsuckers in CAPTAIN KRONOS: VAMPIRE HUNTER (1974). More noticeable roles came as the slave girl and love interest in THE GOLDEN VOYAGE OF SINBAD (1974), acting alongside Peter Cushng as “Princess Dia” in AT THE EARTH’S CORE (1976), as Bond Girl “Naomi” in THE SPY WHO LOVED ME (1977) and as “Stella Star” in STARCRASH (1979). When it comes to pleasing more hardcore horror fans, Caroline has those bases covered as well. She played “Anna” in director William Lustig’s MANIAC (1980) and “Jana” in THE LAST HORROR FILM (1982) with co-star Joe Spinnel, showed up in slasher flick SLAUGHTER HIGH (1986), Jess Franco’s FACELESS (1988) Luigi Cozzi’s THE BLACK CAT (1989), and the recent indy feature FLESH FOR THE BEAST (2003).

TOM SULLIVAN - Tom was the makeup effects man, prop builder, stop motion animator… ah, hell, he did so much behind-the-scenes work that I feel Tom is at least partially responsible for the entire look and feel of Sam Raimi’s cult horror favorite, EVIL DEAD. He also worked plenty an uncredited job on EVIL DEAD 2 and did some work on THE FLY 2 for Chris Wallas. A talented artist, Tom has also done illustrations for collectible card games, film production companies, book illustrations, and designed the ultra-cool “book of the Dead” DVDs for the Anchor Bay limited edition EVIL DEAD and EVIL DEAD 2 releases. Currently, Tom is working on TOM SULLIVAN’S BOOKS OF THE DEAD comic series from Dead Dog Comics. Tom is a regular here at Cinema Wasteland and has become a real fan favorite guest. He has his own “Sullivan Museum Room” at the show where he puts original EVIL DEAD props, storyboards and artwork on display for all attending fans to see up close and personal. It’s always our pleasure to have Tom as part of our Cinema Wasteland Family and let him get a little credit where credit is due - with the fans. Be sure to stop in and see what Tom has in store for all you fans this time around. Could be new art, new film projects, another comic book series…

KARI WUHRER - From TV commercials to MTV VJ and on to several TV and film roles, actress and singer Kari Wuhrer has several popular credits to her name. She was “Abigail” in the SWAMP THING TV series, showed up in a trio of BEVERLY HILLS 90210 episodes as “Ariel Hunter”, and as “Capt. Maggie Beckett”, was a regular on the popular SLIDERS sci-fi TV series as well as appearing in several recent episodes of both CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION and CSI: MIAMI. Her many “Wasteland type” film roles include BEASTMASTER 2 (1991), THINNER (1996), ANACONDA (1997), FATAL CONFLICT (2000), BERSERKER (2001), EIGHT LEGGED FREAKS (2002), MALEVOLENT (2002), FINAL EXAMINATION (2003), THE HITCHER 2: I’VE BEEN WAITING (2003), HELLRAISER: DEADER (2005) and both PROPHECY: UPRISING and PROPHECY: FORSAKEN (2005) to name but a few.
