Book Signing at Dark Delicacies this Saturday!
I’m going to be out near Los Angeles this week on business, so I’ve set up a bookstore appearance while I’m there:

This Saturday, February 3, I’ll be signing books (hopefully mine) at 4:30 p.m. at Dark Delicacies Bookstore in Burbank, California!

Dark Delicacies has copies of my books Covenant, Failure, Vigilantes of Love, and a couple of the collections I have stories in as well, like Candy in the Dumpster and Spooks!

If you’re in the Los Angeles area, please come down and say hi!

A milestone worth talking about!

Actor Tony Todd joins Eerie Horror Film Festival

Posted by Tim on January 30, 2007

The Eerie Horror Film Festival has announced that actor Tony Todd has accepted a position on the Festival’s Advisory Board and will be actively involved in the planning of their 2007 event.
Perhaps best known for his chilling portrayal in the title role of the horror classic “Candyman”, Todd made his motion picture debut in “Sleepwalk” in 1986, followed almost immediately by a role in Oliver Stone’s Academy Award-winning film “Platoon”.
His other film credits include roles in “The Rock”, “The Crow”, “Lean on Me”, “Bird”, “Night of the Living Dead (1990)”, “Final Destination”, and “The Secret” from the award-winning team of Erick Zonka and Virginie Wagon (”Dream Life of Angels”).
Todd has also appeared on many television shows including “NYPD Blue”, “Boston Public”, “Smallville”, “Law and Order”, “Crossing Jordan”, “Homicide”, “Xena” “Hercules”, “The X-Files”,”Andromeda”,as well as recurring roles on all three incarnations of “Star Trek”. His television movies have included starring roles in “True Women”, “The Black Fox”, “Butter”,”The Last Elephant”, “Babylon 5: A Call to Arms”, and “Control Factor”.
Tony’s passion for acting began in theater, first at the University of Connecticut, and then at the renowned Eugene O’Neill National Theatre Institute. His theater credits include originating the title role of award-winning playwright August Wilson’s “King Hedley II”. He also received a Helen Hayes nomination for his performance in Athol Fugard’s “The Captain’s Tiger”. Other theater credits include “Les Blancs”, “Playboy of the West Indies”, “Othello”, “Zooman and the Sign”, “Dark Paradise”, “Aida” (on Broadway), and, most recently, “Levee James” for the prestigious Eugene O’Neill Playwrights Conference.
Mr. Todd joins a growing list of industry professionals that will make up the Eerie Horror Film Festival’s Advisory Board. In December of 2006, Steve “Uncle Creepy” Barton, a driving force behind one of the most popular horror specific sites on the net (DreadCentral.com), signed on as the first member of the newly formed board. Others, including actors, filmmakers, publishers and event coordinators will be announced once they have confirmed their positions as Advisory Board members.
The Eerie Horror Film Festival takes place at the Erie Playhouse in Erie, Pennsylvania, October 10 - 14, 2007. They are currently seeking independent horror, science fiction and suspense themed films, screenplays and video games from around the world as well as sponsors for their internationally recognized event.

RED SEVEN WINS AN AWARD!

Posted by Tim on January 29, 2007

So we all trucked overnight on down to Philly for the Project Twenty1 screenings this past Wednesday, January 24th, and look what we came home with:

Needless to say, I’m immensely proud of our entire team with no name. We were up for several awards including Best Film, Best Director and Best Martketing; but honestly if Mike, Dave and Gracie didn’t take home this particular award I was willing to spill blood in the streets. Fortunately they did, so my blood was spared from washing those historic cobblestones afterall.

Brandon (RED SEVEN’s editor extrordinaire) and I are working on a finalized web version to post here - and around the world - soon in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, if you can’t wait to see this film (and you really shouldn’t quite frankly), please support this very cool festival/competition and pick up a copy of RED SEVEN nestled amoungst the other wildly talented filmmakers entries who competed at this past year’s festival.

Cheers!

Chris Thompson is looking for you!

Posted by Tim on January 28, 2007

Hi, I am a filmmaker looking to cast the lead in an ‘faux’ exploitation trailer. The trailer will be two (2) mins in length, and the shoot will be a couple hours on four different days here in Glendale, CA. This could lead to national exposure as the trailer will be used for a BIGGER project. There is NO pay as we are not making any money off the project, but you will get a copy and could be on cable as well. This will be a fun, ULTRA cool shoot.

Looking for the following roles:

FEMALE 18-25 size 6-8 (as the costumes were bought for the character in advance and this is a recast) 5′2″-5′8″
caucasian “70’s look” long hair-will consider blond, brunette, redhead if the right look. pretty girl next door TO PLAY THE LEAD.

MALE 30-45 “70’s look” sideburns, short hair (but not too short-ie. crew cut, buzz, or anything modern IS OUT) mustache a plus but not necessary
TO PLAY LA POLICE OFFICER

*all other casting has been done. Project to cast and shoot immediately!!!

Carnival of the Damned (DVD Review)

Posted by Tim on January 28, 2007

Carnival of the Damned (DVD Review)
By Tim Gross

A small budget zombie film made by a horror fan, Chris Thompson, who pays homage to the likes of Romero and Argento in his 115 minute feature. The film begins with a cop named ‘Harry’ who is bit of a hard ass, but gains a partner ‘Todd’ after a run in the night before with some people of a strange cult who killed a bar full of people. The bar is just the beginning as Harry and Todd begin to investigate and find out that the cult is for real and is into bringing demons and zombies forth to walk the earth. Along the way the two detectives pick up a waitress who knows a lot about demonology, a reporter trying to get the scoop on the cult and a hitman that Harry has known for a long time. It comes down to the five to save mankind as a power has been released to let the dead to walk the earth. Mass chaos starts as the zombies begin to try and overrun local towns in the state of Washington with the five trying to stop the undead. This film has a gritty look and feel to a modern small budget zombie film. It is entertaining and has the gore that horror fans come to expect with their low-budget zombie films. The film is a fun zombie roller coaster ride with some bumps in the road. These bumps are maybe not the right music that would set the tone of the film from the beginning and maybe length of the film being an issue also as it seems there could have been a few more cuts here and there to make the film a leaner and meaner style of zombie film? But don’t let that go into your decision of checking out an exceptional film made by a first time filmmaker. I give the movie 3 stars and you can find out more about Chris Thompson and his film at www.myspace.com/inthecanpictures1 .
