Well the past two weekends I have caught the “TCM Underground” hosted by Rob Zombie on the TCM channel! Rob Zombie each week will be talking about two films at the beginning of them and at the end of them. Now his part is short but informative… He isn’t going for a hokey style like you see most Public Access channel horror hosts and he isn’t trying to copy somebody like a Joe Bob Briggs. He is trying to do it his own dry way. Whether this is good or not won’t be decided for awhile yet but I’m glad Rob just doing his own thing more than anything! I like it but whether or not it catches on will remain to be seen. But I can tell you this it is well worth the late Saturday night to check out!

Gross Movie Reviews #71
By Tim Gross
Monster Madhouse (DVD) – A DVD that compiles a show that is called “Monster Madhouse†and it stars a horror host named Karlos Karloff (I think?!) and a zombie cheerleader among other characters who do skits in-between horror and sci-fi films they play. Based out of Washington D.C. the “Monster Madhouse†gang looks like they have lots of fun not only doing the skits but going to conventions such as Monster Mania, Cinema Wasteland, etc. and filming different stars they meet. It looks like it is a fun show to watch and don’t forget all the old black & white film trailers they show also. You catch these guys at a convention, make sure you get a DVD, you won’t be disappointed! I give it 3 stars. And don’t forget to check out their website: www.monstermadhouse.com .
The Hitcher 2: I’ve Been Waiting (DVD) - It took me awhile to get around to watching this just because I felt the sequel came 15 years too late if there was going to be one! Thomas C. Howell comes back to reprise his role from the original still haunted by Rutger Hauer and having trouble trying to move on with his hot ass girlfriend Kari Werhur. Which Kari seems to be everywhere in horror movies these days which I think is a good thing. But anyway Jake Busey is the hitchhiker this time around to haunt Thomas C. Howell. It pretty much tries to follow steps of the first movie and becomes more uneventful as the movie moves through its paces. The only thing I got out of watching it which I thought I would was why did I waste 90 minutes of my miserable life watching this? Not even the hot piece of ass Kari saves this sequel, I give it 1 star.
Rest Stop (DVD) – Please stay away from this at all costs! This has to be the worst film of 2006! This is a big piece of donkey shit if I ever seen one! The female lead which is left at this out of the way rest stop is forced to figure out a way to get help before she is killed by a man in a truck! It sounds like it could be a great short film but tortures the viewer for 95 minutes of her stupidity of how not to kill the man in the truck! And to top your torture of watching this big piece of crap is possibly the longest death scene by Joey Lawrence of all fucking people whose death scene seems to last half the movie! By the 30 minute mark of the film I wanted the girl to die and take a gun to my own head for watching this biggest piece of shit in 2006! I give it 0 fucking stars!
Hide & Creep (DVD) – A low budget zombie film that opens with a naked male in a tree who falls out and you get “full frontal nudityâ€! The low budget zombie flick plays for laughs for most of the film as they don’t exactly have the greatest zombie make-up and acting going for them. But do not let that get in the way of watching this fun low budget zombie flick about zombies trying to take over a small town that for the most part the outside world doesn’t care too much about! Of note, look for one of the actors wearing a T-shirt that states “Han shot first!†I give this low budget zombie fare 3 stars.
Haunted Prison (DVD/Sci-fi Channel) – What do get when you have Stacey Keach and Jake Busey in a horror film based around a haunted prison? Not much… It is pretty much paint by numbers horror film about ghosts of the past inmates at the prison that haunt filmmakers who are trying to film the prison itself for their documentary and jewel thieves who just happen to be there at the same time. But if the movie sucks as the filmmakers must of knew they made sure there is lots of blood and gore to keep you interested! I give it 2 stars.
Going to Pieces: The Rise + Fall of Slasher Films (DVD/Starz) – A great documentary that takes you through the years of the slasher film. There are interviews with the likes of Rob Zombie, John Carpenter, Wes Craven, Tom Savini, and many others talking about Halloween, Graduation Day, Prom Night, Friday the 13th, and many others. The documentary talks about how the slasher formula is copied over and over and shows somewhat how Paramount Studios were assholes to some films! Surprising? But anyhow this is a great documentary for any sort of fan of the horror genre and gives you some history of how some of these film ideas were thought up and how a lot of them failed towards the end of the 80’s! I give the documentary 3 ½ stars.
Def By Temptation (DVD) – An urban film that was picked up by Troma years ago about a son of a minister who faces a demon in New York who is killing! Not the greatest horror film, but there is some familiar African-American actors in the film who are pretty much considered some of the best in Hollywood now? Including one Samuel L. Jackson as a minister! I give the film 2 stars.
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes (DVD) – The film is considered by many as the ultimate B-movie which was made in 1978 and pretty much plays like a horror version of “Airplane!†The title says it all as these government experiments “tomatoes†come to life to fight back against the human race only to be killed in the end by a bad song called, “Puberty Loveâ€. The plot sounds a little familiar (Tim Burton’s Mars Attacks!) but that is neither here or there. But you pretty much can’t say you have seen all B-movies until you see this film! It’s cheesy, it is bad, and can be a lot of fun if you are fucked up on drugs or booze?! I give it 2 ½ stars.
