Zombie Walk at Monroeville Mall for Charity

Posted by Tim on October 4, 2006

The next Zombie Walk will be for a Guinness World Record attempt. This will take place at the Monroeville Mall (where Dawn of the Dead was filmed) and all participants will be encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for the Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

Zombies will walk through the mall and exit into the parking lot for a photo to be submitted to the Guinness people.

Really bad news for the Errie Horror Film Fest!

Posted by Tim on October 4, 2006

One of the worst parts of being a festival director is having to announce bad news, but it’s very important to keep the fans informed and updated on any and all changes that may arise.

Case in point, George A. Romero has cancelled his weekend appearance with the Eerie Horror Film Festival (and several others he had planned in the upcoming weeks) due to recent health issues.

From his manager:

It is with great saddness and regret that I must inform all of you that Mr.
Romero will be unable to attend Eerie Horror Fest this year. Due to
unforseen medical reasons, which are not life threatening, Mr Romero has
been given doctors orders not to travel for the next few weeks. He
regrets not being there to meet with his fans, but he simply can not
attend at this time. He does however hope that he will be invited back
for future events.

Chris Roe - CR Management

Though this is no doubt a major dissapointment to those of you planning on meeting George this weekend, I’m sure that you will agree that Mr. Romero’s health and recovery should be of greater concern to all of us.

Our schedule will remain the same (”The Crazies” on Friday/”Day of the Dead” on Saturday) and you can bet that we’re not about to leave the stage empty for those two nights!

Actress Lynn Lowry will still be appearing at “The Crazies” screening, joined by filmmaker Rusty Nails (who will be showing a segment of his documentary “Dead On: The Life and Cinema of George A. Romero”) on Friday.

Actor Tom Atkins (”Creepshow”, “Halloween III”, “Escape from New York”) will be joining us over the weekend!

And it appears as though we are close to having a cast reunion from “Day of the Dead” on hand for Saturday night as well!

We will not let you down and are scrambling at this late date to bring you even more surprises over the weekend.

We will have Get Well cards available over the weekend for fans to sign, all of which will be put into a box and sent to George after the Fest.

Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Please keep your ticket stubs from both “The Crazies” and “Day of the Dead” screenings for free admission/discounts for a future EHFF event/merchandise. (FYI: Plans to reschedule an appearance for George are already in the works).

With the exception of this terrible news, the Eerie Horror Film Festival is pleased to announce that all else is running smoothly. The “Halloween” cast members (a great bunch of people) and director Don Edmonds arrived safe and sound last night and are looking very forward to meeting all of you this week/weekend!

Expect lots of surprises!
