The cable series Dexter debuted on Showtime last night at 10:00 pm. While at times it’s predictable and forced, for the most part it was pretty damned entertaining. The premise is a serial killer that preys on serial killers and works for the Miami police dept. as a forensic specialist in blood spatters. There is a lot of play with the idea that he has no feelings for “normal people” and how he tries to pretend that he does to fit in. This episode also sets up a series driving, cat and mouse relationship with another serial killer that he is working on finding. Dexter is almost orgasmically enamored with the other killer’s technique, which leaves his vitims cut into equal sections and completely drained of blood. The only thing I didn’t like was the Sergent who is literally the only person in the whole police department that thinks Dexter is suspicious. All the Sergent does is get in his face and berate Dexter. It kills all the tension that’s supposed to be between the two and just makes you want to laugh because it’s so stupid. I’m not usually a series follower, but Dexter could change that. We’ll see after a few more episodes. It has plenty of gore, some nudity, and Dex has a hot step-sister who works in the Vice Squad. I recommend it, for now.

The Lost is the first movie to be made from the works of the phenominal Jack Ketchum. From what I’ve seen on the website this movie looks good.
You can check out the website here.
There is also a trailer here.
If you haven’t read Jack Ketchum yet you definately need to read Off Season, which is going to be one of the new Fango comic books coming out soon. It may be the sickest book I’ve ever read second maybe only to Ketchum’s The Girl Next Door, which is also in production as a movie. Check out Jack Ketchum’s Official Website for more information on his books.

Extreme, outrageous, uninhibited. The long forgotten and the unforgettable. The movies of Camp Motion Pictures possess the power to shock and entertain, whether they are newly produced feature films, never-before-released exploitation fare, or yet to be discovered gems from bygone decades. The Camp line-up includes a tantalizing mix of cult cinema categorized by films with genre busting appeal. Horror, thrillers, grindhouse, erotica and sexploitation, shock-u-mentaries, direct-to-video ‘schlock’ classics of the 80s, and more…they all receive equal billing at Camp, and each release comes ready-made to delight and disturb.
Together, the three fledgling Camp labels will introduce a diverse line-up of quality films long absent from the home entertainment landscape, never-before-available at retail, or brand new to the consumer – at budget prices attractive to the die-hard fan or curious impulse buyer. And each Camp release will be lovingly packaged and presented on DVD with bonus materials, collectible booklets and ancillary extras atypical of such price conscious product.
The triumvirate of labels comprising Camp Motion Pictures is:
Camp Motion Pictures – Uncovering and releasing cult cinema from today and decades past, specializing in 1980s-produced films
Bloody Earth Films – The home for newly produced ‘extreme’ horror & exploitation
Secret Key Motion Pictures – Offering contemporary erotica and ‘retro’ sexploitation
Upcoming 2007 releases include:
Cannibal Campout, Woodchipper Massacre, Video Violence 1 & 2 (Camp Motion Pictures)
Taylor Wane’s Erotic Games & Babes in Kongland (Secret Key)
Devil’s Bloody Playthings, Blood Sex Nightmare, Splatter Beach (Bloody Earth Films)

Ningen Manga has unleashed a website for its upcoming production Women’s Studies by Director Lonnie Martin.
In Women’s Studies a pregnant grad student and her friends are held captive at an women’s academy that’s actually a cult of psychotic feminists bent on enslaving and murdering men. Sounds like the SCUM manifesto is on the required reading list.
Production on Women’s Studies is slated to begin in July of 2007. The cast will include Tara Garwood, Kelley Slagle, Tiffany James, Cindy Marie Martin, Melisa Breiner-Sanders, and Laura Bloechl. Director Lonnie Martin wrote and directed the short film Under the Bed, which came out earlier this year.
For more information check out the awesome Women’s Studies website or LonnieMartin.com.
