Bastards of Horror and Blood Type Online Go To the Movies
By Tim Gross

After over a year in the waiting the film “Feast” finally seen the light of day or night I should say as we seen at one of the 100 theaters it was being played at this weekend. It is a special screening most likely to help promote the DVD release in 3 ½ weeks! What is “Feast”? Well, if you are any kind of horror fan in the past two years I’m sure you heard of Bravo’s ‘Project: ‘Greenlight’? A show about that had people send in scripts, audition tapes, etc. and the producers; Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, the Weinstein Brothers, and Wes Craven would pick from them and put them together to make a movie. Well, this time around they decided to do a horror movie since the first two projects bombed horribly! Which they brought in Wes Craven, a horror icon, this time to help with the process of picking the right choice and hopefully a successful one! Well, when it came time they picked a script which featured aliens or monsters depending how you look at it attacking a group of people in a bar and picked a director who didn’t seem to have his heart completely in it. After a talk with Wes Craven, the director John seemed hell bent on getting a horror film made not matter what happened off the set or on. The show featured for 8 weeks showed more how The Weinstein Brothers and Dimension Films were hell bent on sinking the film more than making an actual cool horror film. Everything from undermining the director’s choices in casting of actors and actresses to cutting his budget from 5 or 6 million dollars to under 3 million and giving him maybe 33 days to finish the film! Luckily it showed how much Hollywood is against making a good low budget horror and making a real crappy 60 million dollar horror feature that is PG-13! But John the director did not look back and made the best possible film he could! With the split of Miramax and Disney early this year it seemed we would never get to see this film as there was rumors of the film being shelved like most of Dimension Films product and maybe show up on DVD three years from now when the legal battle was over! But what kept this film afloat was when there is no news about a horror film that looked good, had troubled producers who were assholes, and remakes after remakes coming to theaters, fans kept asking the question: When do we see “FEAST”? Fast forward 12 or 13 months later and you have now where somehow, someway the filmmaker was able to get The Weinstein Brothers to do a one weekend midnight screening of the film in 100 select theaters!

So last night www.bloodtypeonline.com guys (Ed, Russ, Jarod) and myself went to the screening with about maybe ten other people showing up at the theater. Well horror fans I’m here to tell you “FEAST’ is at least the second best horror film of the year if not the second best behind “The Descent”! It has shitload of gore, lots of action, and awesome looking monsters that hump a lot! It comes across as part “Dead Alive, part “Evil Dead” series, part “Near Dark” (bar scene)! The film has some known actors in it such as Jason Mewes and Henry Rollins with some unknowns now becoming known as they are all apart of different projects! Anyhow, it’s a movie about a woman and a man coming to a bar after a horrible accident that involved running over some horrible ugly thing and its family came for them chasing to a run downed bar in the middle of a desert! Once there the action goes as the monsters try to destroy the bar and get inside to kill and eat everyone and it’s up to them if they live through the night or not! The movie is easily 4 stars and shows Hollywood it does not $50 million and CGI to make a good horror film! If you call yourself a horror fan you will want to see this special screening this weekend or buy the DVD in 3 ½ weeks!
