So, the weekend is over at the Radisson Hotel in Greetree, Pa. and the Genghis Con 2 convention has wrapped up completely. It sounded like it should have taken off especially with its history of last year’s convention that did not do great, but well enough that it helped Pittsburgh warrant another horror convention. Well, Mike Watt and Amy Lynn Best seemed to be up to the task again this year with some different guests and some different features such as “Blood Wrestlingâ€, Leslie Easterbrook, and Linnea Quigley. Most horror fans that would see a flyer for something like this and hearing that last years was pretty cool would want to check it out, right? Well, for some reason that didn’t happen this year? Not many came… Baffling to a person such as myself as I write this… The first thing is who is to blame? Myself, Mike and Amy, maybe some of the fucking morons that think of themselves rather than things like Genghis can help the horror genre around the Pittsburgh area (and I’m sure those people will read this also and they know who they are without naming them), the possible lack of advertising or way of advertising, trying different things that not your usual staple at a convention? There is a lot more questions to ask. But there are many things that you can lay blame too, but in my opinion that would be just a cop out excuse, and if you know me that is just lame! So I would say there is no one or no thing to blame in this instance possibly just for the mere fact with my personal issues aside, Mike Watt and Amy Lynn Best tried to do what they considered would be their best convention yet! Did it work out this year? NO! And I highly doubt there will be a third “Genghis†next year, because I totally understand why they wouldn’t attempt it! But I come to my point, whether I love Mike Watt and Amy Lynn Best as friends or not this will not matter when it comes to trying to put on a horror convention such as “Genghis Con†next year in Pittsburgh! Because I know I’m an asshole but I would be more than willing to dress up as a woman, fall through a door, or have my face ripped off and be first one in line to do it if it meant helping people out as passionate as Mike and Amy putting on a horror convention in Pittsburgh! You don’t believe me, you know where to find me but until that time I will do what it takes to keep a horror convention in the Pittsburgh area every year!
