Snakes on a Plane considered a flop… already!

Posted by Tim on September 2, 2006

I didn’t get to talk about this during the week with the website being down. But in case you didn’t hear, “Snakes on a Plane” first weekend out made 17.5 million dollars and was number one. Apparently, this was not good enough for New Line Cinema and a few investors. It was being reported Monday morning after the first weekend that it was losing money. If that wasn’t enough after last weekend it fell to sixth at the box office and had a total of 26 million dollars all together. And there was talk of the film being pulled from theaters already and lots more of chatter internet wise that New Line was complaining more that they were losing money because of the film. Now let me interject my opinion:

Ok, first off how are they losing money when their advertising came from some of the morons that have nothing to do on My Space a year before the movie came out. Hell, the fucking movie wasn’t even made yet! But these morons pushed the movie big time on My Space and other websites, what the hell did New Line Cinema do, they watched? They even admitted last month that they didn’t have to advertise because just the name of the movie alone sold the film on the internet selling the movie like Blair Witch did six years ago! So we know you didn’t lose money there… After the first weekend was number one and you talked about how it should of made 45 million and that is why you lost money. It doesn’t work that way first of all, you don’t write up something as a loss if you didn’t have it in the first place. Be happy for 17.5 million dollars because we know that is ten times the fucking budget of the film. Come on, you know you worked out a deal with Samuel L. Jackson and pretty much the film costed maybe what 4 or 5 million at the most. How do I know this, because you take away Sam and add Dean Cain and you have Sci-fi channel movie of the week! Only difference they needed a name for the film cause it was going to the theaters. Then after the second weekend you are bitching about pulling it because it only made 26 million dollars, WTF? This is Hollywood for you anymore folks! But what top the cake for me was the fucking dumb ass people who complained that the movie wasn’t that good. What the fuck were you expecting 1933’s King F’N Kong, it is “Snakes on a F’n Plane” morons!!! The people who complained about the movie are the same people who complained that Freddy vs. Jason had no plot! There are some things I will never understand or want to understand and that will be Hollywood and the morons that follow them to no ends!

Again thank you for be subjected to Tim Gross’s rant!

Encore has 80's movie weekend this weekend!

Why would I bring up something like this? Well, how about Monday morning (Labor Day) at 3:50 am “Krull” the sci-fi/fantasy movie is on then right after at 6:00 am is one of my favorite sequels “Ghoulies 2″. If you have the Straz package for your satellite or cable systems you most likely have Encore West which will play these movies about three hours later just in case you don’t want to be up so early?
