It's Alive TV Show brings you the "Zombie Walk"

Posted by Tim on September 1, 2006

September 22, 2006

Join the Legions of the Lifeless

All horror enthusiasts are formally invited to participate in Pittsburgh’s first ever Zombie Walk. The event will take place in Pittsburgh’s South Side on September 22, 2006.
The plan is pretty simple:

7:30 PM - All Zombies report to The Town Tavern
Apply make up if you haven’t already and practice saying “Braaaiiinnnss….need braaaiiinnnnssss”.(Early arrivals - The Town Tavern ’s happy hour is from 5:00 to 8:00 PM)

8:00 PM - Begin Walk.
Zombies exit Town Tavern and shamble about for a period of one hour. Eat, drink, explore the shops, but when on the street you must stay in Zombie Mode.
(See Rules of Conduct & “What is a Zombie Walk” below)

9:00 PM - Zombies Disperse.
The Zombie Walk is over. But wait! There’s more…
The cast from It’s Alive, Pittsburgh’s own Horror Host TV show will be appearing at The Rex Theater (about 3 blocks from The Town Tavern).

Festivities at The Rex will include:

The Comedy Stylings of Stiffy The Dead Clown

Sets by the bands DEATHMOBILE and The Forbidden 5

A Classic Horror Film (TBA) Sponsored by Straub Beer

Tickets will be sold at the door on a “first come, first serve” basis
so don’t be late!

The Rex Theatre
1602 E. Carson Street, South Side Pittsburgh, PA 15203 Phone:412-381-6811

Zombie Rules of Conduct
1. Use the “haunted house” rule in that you are not to touch anyone.
2. Do not attempt to scare anyone who is not a willing participant. If anyone is freaking out, turn and shamble in the opposite direction. Avoid confrontations!
3. Stay on the sidewalk unless crossing the street. When crossing, it’s OK to “break character” and cross quickly. Think fast “New Dawn of the Dead” zombies verses the slower “Old Dawn of the Dead” zombies when crossing the street. Blocking traffic is a crime and anyone doing so could be arrested.
4. No drugs. None. Forget it.
5. No alcohol outside the bars. This will get you a nice fine.
6. No littering, destruction of property, or any other illegal activity. Pretend the South Side is your own neighborhood and show the utmost respect. This is something we would like to do many times a year and we don’t want to ruin it. Remember, the media will be watching us (along with the Pittsburgh Police) and this event could get world wide news coverage. Let’s put on a good show.

What is a Zombie Walk?
A zombie walk is an organized public gathering of two or more people who dress up in zombie costumes. Usually taking place in an urban centre, the participants make their way around the city streets and through shopping malls in a somewhat orderly fashion and often limping and gnawing their way towards a local cemetery.
During the event participants are encouraged to remain in character as zombies and to communicate only in a manner consistent with zombies (such as grunts, groans and slurred moans calling for “brains”.)

Gross Movie Reviews #66

Gross Movie Reviews #66
By Tim Gross

The Fly (DVD) – David Croenberg decided in 1986 to remake the Vincent Price classic and take into a whole different direction. What horror fans got was possibly the best remake outside Carpenter’s ‘The Thing’? The movie was character driven, gruesome, and yet you couldn’t look away to see what Jeff Goldblum was going to do next! Croenberg did such amazing job it is still talked about to this day. Jeff tries to invent teleportation but instead during an experiment with himself he is combined with a fly and changes happen! The Vincent Price film is still a classic but Croenberg’s took to a whole new level. The movie gets 4 stars and can be found on various single DVD’s or its special edition combo pack with the sequel inside a teleportation pod!

The Fly 2 (DVD) – This time around Eric Sholtz plays the son of Brundle Fly and tries to unlock the secret instead finds himself facing the same problems as his father. Pretty much cut and dry sequel that was unwarranted but had some really cool make-up and Fly costumes just like the remake, outside of that skip the storyline and just fast forward to the end pretty much! I give it 1 ½ stars.

Aberration (DVD) – The blonde villain from “The Pretender” TV series stars as a woman trying to get away from her past only to find herself fighting little creatures that keep evolving everytime they have new offspring! Not the greatest of movies but a good slimy creature feature that has its place and worth watching sometime. I give it 2 ½ stars.

976-EVIL (DVD) – Evil Ed from “Fright Night” finds his cousin’s ‘Horrorscope’ card and calls the number, “976-EVIL” to find out it helps him get over the jocks and bullies and to get over his overbearing mother only its to late when his cousin finds out it costs his soul for calling the number! Robert Englund aka Freddy Krueger directs this little gem of a 80’s flick that has more than enough blood and gore for the new gorehound fans! I give the film 3 ½ stars.

Pieces (DVD) – A movie that was made famous for being on the “Video Nasty” list and banned from other countries was made in 1982 in Spain. It’s about a maniac with a chainsaw hacking college girls to pieces and collecting them. Not the greatest gore film to see but for the most part you can’t consider yourself a gorehound unless you have seen this film? I give the movie 2 stars!

Masters of Horror: Jenifer (DVD) – Dario Argento directs this Stephen Weber story about a girl who has a beautiful body but a face that can kill with one look. The episode starts and ends pretty much the same way showing that the story of “Jenifer’ will always live? It’s an effective story but no where the best work of Argento’s or the Masters of Horror series. I give it 2 ½ stars.

Child’s Play (DVD) – The story of a boy and his talking “Good Guy” doll that made the killer doll story not only mainstream but some would say mainstream. Brad Dourif plays a lifelong criminal who uses voodoo to put his spirit into a doll and begins a killing spree looking for the right body to transfer his spirit too! 1988, Chucky was born and became a horror icon. Without this fucked movie we don’t have “Bride of Chucky” and “Seed of Chucky” which are two of the funniest horror films ever made! I give the original 3 ½ stars.

Dead Line (DVD-R) – A movie from a young female filmmaker out of California made a movie that takes a different direction in low-budget horror, “filming a serious horror film, not a horror/comedy”. Now this isn’t a bad thing going against the grain and trying to make a short film stick out in a genre that is crowded with the same theme. Her 34 minute short film is about 4 college age friends who go to a place in the woods for a vacation. One problem, one person has been through a tragic event, “her parents being killed”. Not much of a twist that you don’t see coming but a worthy one of calling this a pretty good effort in which Michelle Fatale, the female filmmaker, set out to make. It has some blood, drugs, and a female killer with an axe, it is more than worthy calling a horror movie worth watching in my opinion! There is at times some feedback on the film but something I have heard worse with other low budget films and I’m sure something she is correcting with her next feature as I write this! I give it 3 stars and look forward to more of her films. For more details about her and her films you can go to www.michellefatale.com or www.myspace.com/michellefatale , check them out and contact her about her film, she is a great person to speak with.

Silent Hill (DVD) – Most likely the best video game adaptation to date but with a ending that you can call a bullshit and cop out excuse for an ending. Although the filmmakers stuck to their guns and got the ‘R’ rating the story loses you after about ¾‘s the way through! I would of liked to see more of the demons that are underground of the city but that would most likely push the film to 2 ½ hours for which is a death warrant for most horror films. I give the movie 2 ½ stars.

Scary Movie 4 (DVD) – Anna Farris is back again to spoof such movies as Brokeback Mountain, The Grudge, War of the Worlds, and Saw. The series was able to keep the comedy going with very funny spoofs of the popular films and get people like Dr. Phil and Shaq from the NBA to even make fun of themselves. The movie of course is lots of fun but makes you wonder if they can do it a fifth time? I give it 3 stars.

Highlander 2 (DVD) – To be honest with you what happen to them calling it “The Quickening”? Did I shit to hard that my useless brain that is full of useless information miss this one or was it the studios trying to still make their money back drop the title so to trick people in thinking they are buying a different Highlander movie? Who fucking knows? But anyway Christopher Lambert is in the future, 2024 to be exact, and is faced with another kick ass villain and soon to be on my (man, the myth, the legend list) Michael Ironside in a sequel that I have seen five times now over the years and don’t know why exactly they made this? I know the other two sequels suck ass big time, but this sequel makes you think of who in the fucking right mind thought this would work?! I know if it works once it will work again… Problem is the first was just some low-budgeted adventure that Hollywood wasn’t sure about and the sci-fi/fantasy genre embraced it and ran with it! It is somewhat of a fun movie but nothing like the sword wielding classic that just seems timeless whenever I watch unlike this over-budgeted sequel! I give the movie 2 stars!

Film camp shares Hollywood’s magic
Autistic young people learn the behind-the-scenes of filmmaking while creating a TV spoof.
Ursula Watson / The Detroit News

Center Stage film premiere
Featuring works from participants in the film camp for autistic children
When: 7 p.m. Saturday; with a 6 p.m. VIP reception at C@fe O’Bear’s
Where: Oakland Center on the campus of Oakland University
2200 N. Squirrel Road, Rochester.
Admission: Movie tickets are $25; VIP tickets are $75 and include the cost of the movie. All proceeds go to Jack’s Place for Autism.
Call: (248) 370-3068
For information on autism, visit www.autism-society.org.

‘I’m a nobody, I only have two parts.”
The disappointment of a tall, dark-haired, young actor bubbles forth while reading a script for a commercial. This is the third day of film camp at Oakland University in Rochester for youths with autism spectrum disorder.
According to the Autism Society of America “children and adults with autism typically show difficulties in verbal and non-verbal communication, social interactions, and leisure or play activities.”
Encouraging words from a fellow actor, a boy with curly blond hair and glasses, quickly quash the boy’s self-deprecating rant. “There are no small parts,” he says gently.
At the two-week long film, camp producer, director and actor Joey Travolta teaches youths, ages 10 to 18,the ins and outs of filmmaking.
The end result will be a 15-minute spoof of the reality TV show, “The Apprentice,” that will premiere during the red-carpet Center Stage film premiere, at the
university on Saturday night. Travolta? Yes. He is the brother of actor John. First Travolta, 55, created Joey Travolta Entertainment Experience based in Tarzana, Calif., a film camp for all kids. Then he took his experience as a former special education teacher and designed a film camp especially for those with special needs.
For three years now, Travolta has traveled, when invited, to university campuses with a small crew, bringing with him a little bit of Hollywood. “I have always been a mentor-type person, and I am doing two things I love the most, making film and working with kids,” he says.
Mary Otto, Oakland’s dean of the School of Education and Human Services, says the film camp is just one of the ways that the university reaches out to children with autism spectrum disorder and their families. The Jack’s Place for Autism Foundation funds the camp and the other recreational programs offered to the kids and their families.
Debra Alvarez enrolled her son, Eddy, 10, into the film camp because he loves the camera and wants to be documentary filmmaker one day. Alvarez says the camp is not only fun, but it also teaches important life lessons, such as setting and reaching goals. Plus, it is great way for her son to just hang out, be a kid and not feel like he is the odd kid out.
“He is making new friends and connections,” she says. “It is really important because he is at an age where he is starting to realize he is a little bit different.”
Seeing the kids in the film camp interact reminds one that a child with autism is just a child. They were engaged, social, funny, a little rambunctious and sweet-natured.
Debi Hall, the film camp’s acting teacher, says the program helps kids blossom.
“These kids constantly hear they are limited,” she says. “We want them to gain the feeling that they can achieve anything they want to.” Travolta agrees. “Art gives them a voice that they don’t have,” he says.

‘Psycho’ Scriptwriter Stefano Dies at 84
Co-Creator of Original ‘Outer Limits’ TV Series

In addition to ‘Psycho,’ Joseph Stefano also penned ‘The Black Orchid,’ ‘The Naked Edge,’ and ‘Eye of the Cat.’

Alfred Hitchcock turned Stefano’s ‘Psycho’ screenplay into one of film’s greatest shockers.

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (Aug. 30) - Joseph Stefano, who wrote the screenplay for Alfred Hitchcock ’s “Psycho” and was co-creator of television’s science fiction anthology series “The Outer Limits,” has died. He was 84.

Stefano died Aug. 25 at Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center, funeral director Elaine Munoz said. The cause of death wasn’t disclosed.

Stefano graduated in 1940 from South Philadelphia High School and he went to New York as an aspiring entertainer. He played piano, sang, danced and wrote music and lyrics.

He toured with a modern dance troupe and worked temporary jobs as a typist. He met his future bride, Marilyn Epstein, in a bar in Manhattan in 1953.

“I was trying to make a choice on the jukebox and this great-looking man in black jacket, jeans and boots said, `Play that one, I wrote it,’ ” she told The Philadelphia Inquirer. They soon married.

Stefano’s big TV break came in the 1950s when he was hired as a writer for the “Ted Mack Family Hour.” He also wrote a number of scripts, including “The Black Orchid,” which was made into a 1958 movie starring Sophia Loren and Anthony Quinn .

Stefano then became a scriptwriter for 20th Century Fox in 1960, and he moved to Hollywood. Hitchcock soon had him adapt a Robert Bloch pulp novel for the screen. The movie became “Psycho.”

“Bloch’s novel started with Marion Crane arriving at the motel and immediately being killed. My feeling was that, since I did not know anything about this girl, I wasn’t going to care about her when she was killed. So we backed the story up a bit and learned something about her so that when she was killed, it would have more impact,” Stefano once told the Los Angeles Times.

Stefano had her stealing $40,000 from her boss and stopping at the Bates Motel while on the run. Though she has a change of conscience about the money, Crane is knifed to death in a memorable shower sequence.

He wrote several other screenplays, including “The Naked Edge” with Gary Cooper , but Stefano and screenwriter Leslie Stevens turned to TV to produce and write “The Outer Limits,” which ran from 1963 to ‘65.

Stefano later wrote the 1969 thriller “Eye of the Cat” and co-wrote the comedy “Futz!” that same year with Rochelle Owens.

In the 1970s and 1980s, he wrote TV movies, including “Home for the Holidays” in 1972 and “Snowbeast ” in 1977.

Besides his wife, Stefano is survived by his son Dominic. The funeral was private.

Thank you to Mr. Moviefone

For anybody who didn't know…

Charles Band Announces Second Full Moon Horror Road Show

(HOLLYWOOD)—Charles Band, whose 270 plus films as founder of independent sci-fi/horror studio, Full Moon Pictures, established him as one of Hollywood’s most successful cult movie impresarios, has announced that he will stage the second incarnation of his Full Moon Horror Road Show this fall beginning in San Francisco on September 14.

Last year’s eighteen city theatre run featured Band orchestrating a wild mix of surprise guest appearances, never-before-seen rare Full Moon footage, off-the-wall contests, original puppet & doll auctions at each tour stop, bizarre audience participation, unique merchandise and road show specials and the chance to win a part to be killed in a Full Moon feature. This year’s twenty-one city trek figures to be an even wilder foray into a world where the only limits are that of imagination.

Band is known for the many surprises he brings to his shows and this year’s tour features a raft of new eye openers. The coup de grace is a live on-stage decapitation. In addition, there will be a provocative audience participation event called The Casting Couch and the unveiling of GAMEBRA, the follow-up to last year’s wildly popular MONSTERBRA. Band will also be awarding “Executive Producer” credits to many attendees as well as giving away copies of his much anticipated film, Evil Bong, starring Tommy Chong, set for national release October 24.

“We’ll be having a great time,” he promised. I’ll be unveiling some awesome new merchandise, some of which will be for sale in limited quantity, introducing celebrity guests in each city, presenting our cast of spooky characters and half-naked chicks and much, much more. But you’ll have to come and see for yourself! I’m looking forward to meeting as many of our fans as possible and I’ll be on hand after each show to chat and sign autographs.”

Band will kick off Full Moon Horror Road Show II in San Francisco, September 14 @ Rickshaw Stop; 9/15, La Jolla, CA, @ La Jolla Brew House; Phoenix, 9/16 @ Big Daddy’s North; 9/17, Las Vegas @ Celebrity Nightclub and Lounge; 9/21, Austin @ Alamo South Lamar; 9/22, Dallas @ Lakewood Theatre; 9/23, Norman, OK @ Sooner Theatre; 9/24, Little Rock @ Juanita’s Café & Bar; 9/28, Miami @ The Pawn Shop Lounge; 9/29, Clearwater, FL, @ The Majestic Lounge and Nightclub; 9/30, Marietta, GA @ The Darkside; 10/1, Charlotte, NC @ Neighborhood Theatre; 10/5, Baltimore @ Have A Nice Day Cafe; 10/6, Garwood, NJ @ The Crossroads; 10/7, Poughkeepsie @ The Loft; 10/8, Allston, MA @ The Kells Of Boston; 10/11, Buffalo @ The Icon; 10/12, Cleveland @ The Agora; 10/13, Chicago @ Excalibur Nightclub; 10/14, Middleton, WI @ The Warehouse Stage; 10/15, Minneapolis @ The Varsity Theatre.

After a long day of setting up a new server, transfering all of our files, and restoring the databse, Bastards is back up. In order to help prevent the same thing happening again I had to disable the chatbox and comments, not like anybody really used those features anyway. Also, you now have to be a member to post on the forum. I didn’t want to do that but it had to be done. Oh and to our pharmaceutical salesmen, my dick stays hard quite nicely without your help.
