Gross Movie Reviews #64

It’s a short list this time around but that is so I can review the DVD’s I picked up from people at Twisted Nightmare this past weekend and give some of these people some useful plugs for there movies good or bad! So read and enjoy…

Halloween 25 Years Later (DVD) – If you are any kind of Halloween fan this is the DVD two-disc set for you! If you are not a Halloween fan pass on this as this two-disc set is a fan made DVD and fan driven. The two-disc DVD set consists of the first disc being a behind-the-scenes film of the convention that happen a couple years ago that celebrated the Halloween series with all the people who played Michael Myers and plus many other actors and actresses from all the Halloween movies. P.J. Soles is the narrator and takes you through set locations, props, fans of the films, etc. of the first Halloween to Halloween: Resurrection. This is a very Halloween-geek driven DVD that even shows the panel discussions, deleted scenes from some of the Halloween films, and things you could not imagine! I give this 2 disc-set 3 stars!

The Legend of Hell House (DVD) – Roddy McDowell stars as a man who survived an evil house twenty years ago that is supposedly the most famous haunted house that has killed people over the course of time with a history unlike any other house! Roddy with another psychic and a scientist attempt to get rid of the ghosts that haunt the house. This film being made in the early 70’s still has a great creepiness and scares to it till this day! I give it 4 stars!

Waxwork (DVD) – Another forgotten horror film from the late eighties that I feel is a fun horror film to watch. The movie stars Zach Galligan (Gremlins) and Deborah Foreman (April Fool’s Day) as college kids who are invited to a wax museum at midnight. What they don’t know is that the scenes of wax figures represent come to life when you enter them and they come apart of them! It’s bloody fun and has its moments of comedy as Zach and Deborah hold the fate of the world in their hands when they enter the mysterious museum! Pretty cool film to check out if you never have, it can be found by itself on DVD or with its sequel on the same DVD at a pretty cheap price! I give the movie 3 ½ stars!

Waxwork II: Lost in Time (DVD) – The same people try to make a sequel three years later without Deborah Foreman and going for more comedy than horror this time around and end up with a pretty much useless sequel that would have been better never being made at all but does have a classic appearance by Bruce Campbell in a scene mocking the classic film “The Haunting! Even being a die hard fan of the first I had a hard time trying to like this so I give it 1 star and think twice before renting it!

Wishmaster (DVD) – Andrew Divoff stars as the evil Djinn who was brilliantly casted as the “Djinn and gives you three wishes that end badly every time! A great horror film that came out during a time that horror films were very bad in the mid-90’s! The film also sports possibly the coolest cast ever in horror movies as Kane Hodder, Reggie Bannister, Buck Flower, Tony Todd, Robert Englund, and Robert Kurtzman (KNB)! And if that wasn’t enough, Harry Manfredini did the music and Peter Atkins and Wes Craven had a hand in helping the movie get to the big screen! This movie is a horror hound’s dream! It has blood, gore, an evil genie, and horror icons everywhere, what more could you want from a small Hollywood budgeted horror film! I give the film 4 stars!

The Fog (DVD) – Yes, I got around and abused myself by watching this uneventful and very, very horrible remake that just was a complete waste of time for not only me but for any other human being who even thought watching this big piece of shit! This film now ties “The House on Haunted Hill remake as the worst film idea ever that Hollywood came up with! I give it 0 stars, be warned if you rent this you should be haunted and killed by the things in the fog or just have me smack the shit out of you for even thinking about renting it! Oh yeah, I watched it free by the way, there was no way I was paying for this huge piece of monkey shit!
