If you are a comic book fan or I should say X-men fan? You must check out the hardcover tradeback book of X-23! A scientist takes DNA from the original Weapon X program and tries again this time its a girl! She has Wolverine with a few enhancements and she is only a teenager with the thrist for blood but doesn’t know why. A great book as it has the six issue series and the NYX seven issue series packaged nicely into this $34.95 Hardcover book. If you are the fan it is worth the money!

Gross Movie Reviews #60
by Tim Gross
KvsC (Komodo vs. Cobra) (DVD) - Movie stars Michael Pare` who has become a huge B-
Movie star over the years. Well, you have him and a bunch of CG kills by a giant CG snake and
crocodile. Grab the popcorn and enjoy this instant classic, I give the movie 1 1/2 stars.
Attack of the Sabertooth (DVD) - Basically your your very, very low budget version of Jurassic
Park with a CG’d tiger and the guy who was the main nerd in the movie “Revenge of the Nerds”!
Boring at times but lots of people die, I give the movie 2 stars.
After Sundown (DVD) - A vampire who was killed a hundred years ago is released from her
grave and sets her sights on making the whole town zombies who do her bidding. Lots of blood,
lots of bad dialogue, and lots of bad filming period, I give it 0 stars.
Stephen’s King ‘Desperation’ (TV movie/DVD) - Ron Perlman stars as a cop who keeps
bringing in people from this long long desert road to take over their bodies eventually. Way
too much time talking about God and not enough killing in the movie which proved again
Mick Garris is only working because of Stephen King and ABC! I give it 1 star.
X-Men 3: The Last Stand (theater) - The story continues as Jean Grey returns being possessed
by her other personality ‘Phoenix’ and is going to be part of the big war between humans and
mutants. Meanwhile a cure as been made for mutants to not be mutants anymore. To sum up the
movie in few words without giving it away, you have lots of Wolverine, Magneto, and Professor
X, and everyone dies in this sequel as this has to be the most violent sequel out of the three.
The movie ends but sets up future movies other characters in the X-men universe. Once again
Marvel did not disappoint and I give this movie 4 stars.
The Card Player (DVD) - Argento takes you on a ride of a serial killer who likes to play
video computer on the internet. One problem if you lose the game the women who is tied
up on screen with the game dies also. A different but straight to the point serial killer movie
which seems to go away from most of Argento’s earlier films. I give it 3 stars.
Katiebird (DVD) - A look into a crazed mind of a women who thinks she isn’t crazy.
You will either find how the film was filmed: Beautiful and cutting edge or very annoying! I give this
movie 2 1/2 stars.
Blood Diner (VHS) - A classic tale of two brothers who dig up their uncle who’s brain is
still alive and needs fresh bodies so he is able to use black magic to have his brain in another
young body again! This all takes place in a diner the two brothers opened up as they serve
whats left of the people they kill to the customers. The filmmaker went to great lengths to fill
this classic with gore and tits to a horror fan’s liking. You haven’t all gore films until you have
watched this film. I give it 3 1/2 stars.
Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers (DVD) - What do you need to know? Come on the title explains
itself? Not enough? Linnea Quigley and Michelle Bauer are naked covered in blood and kill people
with chainsaws and listen to their master Gunnar Hansen! No I couldn’t make this 80’s cult classic up
if i wanted too. This film sent the Scream Queens into Superstardom during the late 80’s. I give
this movie 4 stars.
The Omen (DVD) - Possibly the best Antichrist movie next to ‘The Exorcist’! It does not get any
than better than a boy who is born with ‘666′ on his head and is believed to take over the world
and kill us all. To this day this awesome 1976 film strikes fear into horror fans. Recently the
ultimate DVD box set was released with all four films with as much extras they could into it!
I give this movie 4 stars.
The Omen 2 (DVD) - The Antichrist is 13 and is at a private military school where he learns
what he actually is while people protect the future antichrist there is still others who what to
kill him before it is too late. the movie features a very young Lance Henriksen. No where
near as good as the first but still worth taking a look just for the elevator scene. I give the
movie 2 1/2 stars.
The Omen 3: The Final Conflict (DVD) - Well the Antichrist is all grown up and its Sam
(In the Mouth of Madness) Neil. Yeah, I couldn’t believe it either, these crazy movie people?
Events for the end of the world are set into motion as the Antichrist has every baby being killed
in fear of God being reborn to fight him and save humankind. Boring at times but if you are a huge
fan of the Omen you have to watch it. I give th movie 1 1/2 stars.
The Butterfly Effect (DVD) - Kelso from ‘The 70’s Show’ is able to go back in time and
change things. But everytime he goes back it gets worse. Movie gets old after about the first 25
minutes and makes you wonder why they just couldn’t try to rip of Final Destination some
other way. I give the movie 1 1/2 stars.
Masters of Horror: Incident On and Off a Mountain Road (DVD) - This 60 minute movie
is about a young and beautiful woman who has an accident on a road in the middle of nowhere.
when she gets out of the car she soon finds out she is not alone and is on the run for her life
from a crazed, moonfaced killer. What the killer does not know is Bree Turner has a secret?
A really cool episode directed and written by the man who gave us ‘Phantasm’ and story was based
on a short story by Joe (Bubba Ho-Tep) Lansdale. Look for Angus Scrimm in the episode also.
I give it 3 stars.
Masters of Horror: Chocolate (DVD) - Somebody please tell me how Mick Garris still
gets to make movies? I give it 0 stars.
Warning Sign (DVD) - A very deadly strain of a virus is let out into the air of what is suppose
to be a faclity trying to make a better vegetable? Another cool virus movie that is not known by
most because of the very star driven, “Outbreak”! I give this movie 3 stars.
Bad Dreams (DVD) - Jennifer Rubin is a hippie chick who was part of Richard Lynch’s
cult that kills themselves to go to a higher plane. She survives and comes out of a coma 13 years
later and begins to have bad dreams about the fire and people begin to die. It’s cheesy but
bloody and features an alternative ending never seen before! I give the film 3 stars.
Critters (DVD) - They are furballs from space that shoot spikes at people and eat everything
including people! Its PG-13, but its fun and also stars Scott (Nightlife) Grimes and Billy Zane
with a ponytail! I give it 3 1/2 stars.

“Gone the Way of Flesh”
By Tim Gross
Jason and his crew put together a film like no other in recent memory of indepedent films.
The film “Gone the Way of Flesh” was made for a mere $700, mostly spent at Wal-mart for
props and was made over a period of three years. And it was time well spent! Between Jason
being interviewed by the local papers to him posting about his movie on www.myspace.com
and www.Bastardsofhorror.com, the theater that held the screening was packed like never
before. It was like a fat chick trying to fit a three sized too small thong and witnessed a one-of-
a-kind independent film. From its sleaziness to its rock-a-billy soundtrack, the movie had people
either stuck in their chair wanting more or had a few people looking on in disgust which is always
good to have that type of reaction. The movie runs in around the 65 minute mark and pushes the
boundaries of sleaze and creepiness every step of the way. The story revovles a detective who
is on a case that seems like it will never be solved. It is case that pretains to young under
drinking age women who are being killed by a serial killer during a popular local band’s concerts.
The killings take place at all sorts of clubs but only if the band is playing. The plot seemed thin at
times but at $700 who’s complaining? The movie features what most horror fans are looking for:
blood, nudity, and great music! In my opinion, I found the movie to be done no justice as it
played in the theater. You take away that it was filmed on digital video and it fits right in with
all the great grindhouse and sleazy films that played at the drive-ins during the late 60’s and 70’s
at midnight. The movie belongs at a drive-in with drive-in party type atomsphere. Whether it
equals success when it hits DVD remains to be seen but to me it is well worth the risk of
checking this great film out especially since not too many films like this come along! I give it 3 1/2
stars and a note for fans film has already been picked up for a DVD release by Troma Films!
