Bastards visit the set of “Abbatoir�

Well, last night I went to a house in Bellevue, Pa to not just cover a night of shooting on the new production from Happy Cloud Pictures, “Abbatoir� but to also play a part in a scene where a mugger brutally beats and attempts to rape a woman in a alley way! But his efforts are stopped quickly as he meets a gruesome death by a tall, mysterious woman who saves the victim of the mugger. I mean gruesome as I have the bruises, cuts, and scrapes on my side of my face and arms to prove it! “Abbatoir� is a vampire movie along the lines of “Bordello of Blood� as Mike Watt put it bluntly but better!

I showed up at the house to be greeted by Amy Lynn Best, producer/actress on the film, Stacy Bartlebaugh-Gmys, lead actress, Secret Scroll Digest crew (www.secretscrolldigest.com) Mike and Carolyn, and the tall, mysterious woman who would kill me and for the life of me I do not remember her name! Hey, you get slammed into cement walls about ten times and then fall face first onto the cement ground three or four times and see if you remember everybody’s name! Amy explained to me they were setting up the scene out back as there was a nice narrow walkway between the duplexes that if lighted right looked exactly like a dirty alley way. Again folks, low budget filmmaking at its best as filmmakers use what ever they can to make their movie! I was then greeted by Mike Watt, director, and Jeff (Project: Valkyrie), cameraman, to go through the motions of what was going to happen on this night of shooting involving me.

After that, I went back inside to check out the two guys doing make-up for the movie, Don and Kirk, as Don was preparing Stacy already for her brutal attack and Kirk was preparing the face mold of my face that will be ripped off in the scene I was going to be in. As Stacy was having her make-up applied, I decided to help Mike of Secret Scroll Digest out by performing an interview of the make-up guys while working for an extra to the DVD when it is released. Happy Cloud goes great lengths to get lots footage of behind-the-scenes stuff to place on their DVD’s as that is where most of the magic happens for any low budget film and the fun! The one thing to remember is if you are not having fun on the low budget film more than likely that is a tall tale sign the movie: a) will not get released, b) movie will suck donkey cock or c) the filmmakers are complete dicks! But anyway, about 30 minutes later and waiting for it to get dark, Stacy was ready for her scene with the mugger. A few shots were shot to establish the mugger (me) was beating her brutally and his goal was to rape her also. Stacy being the trooper she was did the shots very well and was very convincing of me beating her. My biggest goal was not to connect with her very pretty face with my fist because it would have not been pretty at all! So of course I trying to be a gentleman I would ask after everytime after Mike would yell, “CUT�, if she was alright and help her up from the ground as she cowers in this corner of the alley way! I mean come on people you see my big, ugly, ass standing over you, you wouldn’t be acting! Then we did my three lines quickly because I’m no actor and moved on! The scene of beating her went off great and we were moving on to where it was time to meet my bloody and gruesome demise!

First, I was needed to be in the make-up for about 15 minutes or so as Don applied a neck where the tall and mysterious woman would bite down and take a chunk of my flesh out. Then, he set up a tube under my shirt and connected it to the wound and it was time to drop to my knees after being kicked by the tall and mysterious woman and she would yank my head around and take a bite. The shot went quick and without a hitch only taking a few takes and we were moving on for the next shot where I get picked up and thrown into walls back and forth very violently as blood spurts out from my face. Again, I take the beating, a lot more blood is added and we move on. Next, I lay in a huge pool of blood face first for about 45 minutes as they have to get shots of Stacy’s character being rescued and I’m there just to see how many rocks will be embedded into my face! Then came the part people were waiting for my face being ripped off! I’m nailing on the ground and have lots of blood applied, thrown on my face then the piece of latex which is the part that is being ripped off lots of more goo and blood of course. The tall and mysterious woman character reaches around yanks my head around again and rips off my face as I spit blood everywhere and scream and gurgle in agony! Two takes and they were perfect! Then it was picture time as I posed for about two dozen pictures which hopefully we will get soon from www.secretscrolldigest.com to put up on Bastards to show you the fan how much fun it was! They did two more shots to establish the two women leaving and it was a wrap for the night after a 4 ½ hour shoot and it was time for clean up. For me this is nothing new as I pull out a trash bag out of backpack and begin to strip and place the blood soaked clothes in the bag for laundry later on and wash a bit, enough so I do not get pulled over by the cops on the way home and get dressed so I can shower!

It was just another day and a shoot in the life of Happy Cloud Pictures as they their new production in the hopes of “Asylum Entertainment� picking it up! I might tell you I have the bruises, scraps, and cuts to prove what I did last night and it might seem to be overboard to make a low budget film but it is what I enjoy. Mike and Amy know all to well I am more than willing to go that extra mile for a horror film! So when I tell you I got bloody and gore up, it is always the best time of my life as I get to live out a childhood dream just to have my face ripped off and lay in a pool of blood for an extended period of time.

Bastards has a conversation with actress/model Tiffany Apan

Now I started out in a great mood Friday morning knowing I was going to a local coffee shop and interviewing a gorgeous and very talented actress/model, Tiffany Apan. Hell, if you been to www.dropdeadbeauty.com you understand what I’m talking about! But I showed up a few minutes early of course to make sure the digital recorder was working and trying to settle my nerves some. Why am I nervous? 1) She is so freakin hot and 2) I want to try to have the best interview possible for not only the website but to help promote the person I’m interviewing and for the people who read or listen to the interview. Yes, maybe other people don’t get nervous about doing things like this, but I do because it is another thing I love doing for the horror genre. But anyway let’s get back to the very beautiful Tiffany Apan and what happen…

Well, of course I tested the dam digital recorder and it worked until Tiffany was about to be interviewed by me. I was like “oh cluster fuck�! I fiddled with the fucking thing for about five minutes or so which felt like an hour or so because in back of my mind I’m thinking Tiffany thinks I am a complete retard (which might be true). I said I was sorry about the dam recorder like a thousand times and felt like a complete ass since I pushed for an interview with her big time for two main reasons: 1) I have noticed not only myself but have talked to other people is when you show up at a horror convention in the past few months and you notice this unbelievable gorgeous redhead (hair color has changed now) sitting at the Troma table. Tiffany has this unique beauty about her that she stands out in a crowd of 10 or 500 people. Tiffany Apan has a look in my opinion that I think not only the fanboys but casting directors are looking for. Plus it is all how she carries herself too. She isn’t your typical “blonde toothpick model�! And she isn’t one of those girls you see at the con who is completely “Goth�, but hasn’t been in a movie and wants you to buy a topless picture of her anyhow for $20! 2) I feel she is talented and I have a feeling just from looking at her that she will be doing more and more film related work that which will only get bigger and better! I could be wrong, but usually I am able to call things like that… Again though back to the interview…

Tiffany Apan, being the cool person she is she said, “You know what, don’t worry about it� in a, it happens kind of way and not a, you fucking degenerate piece of crap kind of way. Right there something clicked between us. I put the recorder away, Tiffany and I locked eyes and I went into interview mood that soon turned into just having a conversation with a very beautiful but very knowledgeable horror movie fan! Tiffany’s personality is very “down to earth� and very “likable� as we spoke about her love for being an actress in the independent horror genre and how it all started when she was three years old and most kids would close their eyes during some parts of the movie “Wizard of OZ� and “Sleeping Beauty�. From there on she knew what she wanted to do! At first being pushed by her mom to do dance class, Tiffany would go the acting route throughout her high school years. Tiffany took it by the hand and went with it as she starred in many plays during her high school years and enjoyed doing theater. But that was just the start, when Tiffany came to Pittsburgh, Pa to go to college she answered an ad in the “City Paper� for someone looking for actresses for an independent film during her freshmen year. That is when she met David and Diana Silvio of “Kiss of Death Productions�. And Tiffany got the part and was behind the camera acting which right away she understood how much she not only enjoyed it but how well it fit her! Throughout the conversation I would reference different horror films to see if she actually was a horror movie fan as she claimed and it was a fresh breath of air as she delightfully proved me wrong and discussed her favorites “Child’s Play� and the “Halloween� series. “Halloween’s� Jamie Lee Curtis and PJ Soles inspired her to be an actress and be a huge fan of the “Halloween� movie franchise. Her knowledge of horror movies and down to earth personality makes her that much more “unique� as she can come of as a “wet dream� for most male horror fans who attend the horror conventions! Which Tiffany and I discussing “Halloween 3: The Season of the Witch� took the cake of how cool she is. Close to an hour later our conversation had to end as I had different things to attend to and Tiffany had plans with her website person to upload new photos for her website www.dropdeadbeauty.com . But we also discuss her present projects as she has finished up filming with Kiss of Death Productions on “Fetish Dolls� and is working on a project about “Amelia Earhart� (I’m sure I misspelled the famous female pilot’s name) showing her versatility as an actress. In the future, Tiffany would like to work with the likes of Debbie Rochon, Rob Zombie, and Tim Burton and work in all genres of movies but her heart will always go back to doing a horror movie. Hopefully this will be the start of not only a great relationship between “Bastards of Horror� and the young, beautiful, talented actress/model Tiffany Apan but the start of a great acting career for Tiffany as this article does no justice to how well the interview/conversation went with Tiffany and how unique Tiffany is! But I thank her anyway for putting up with me!

Satan Schoolgirls DVD being released

The Terry M. West produced sexy shocker “SATAN’S SCHOOLGIRLS” has been given the special DVD treatment by new exploitation label, Plausible Denial Productions. “SATAN’S SCHOOLGIRLS” chronicles the satanic hijinks going on at a rustic school for girls that once housed a
satanic cult. The 2004 lensed flick, a collaboration between West and his (now defunct) Grindhouse Junkies partners, has seen a few nips and tucks. “We produced a very limited DVD-R for fans, but it had flaws,”

West admits. “I didn’t want people to think I was just cashing in on
my notoriety as the guy that directed “LORD OF THE G-STRINGS”. I try
to put a certain amount of love and effort into every project I do.
Even though I had promoted the DVD-R as a rough cut, I still wasn’t
happy offering a product that wasn’t finished. I bought the film
outright from my partners, then put the additional effort into it that
it required.” That effort included bringing frequent West collaborator
Ted Crestview in to shoot some very Gothic and moody locations.

“I am moving on to different paths,” West confides, as evidenced in
the last year by his landing two leading roles in “THE BUNKER”
(directed by blind director Joe Monks) and Alan Rowe Kelly’s “THE
BLOOD SHED” (part of the upcoming “HUNG BY A THREAD” anthology). West
was also a producer on the Horror Biz Films production, “HELL ON
EARTH” (directed by Ted Bohus). West’s upcoming anthology, “DEMONS OF
FLESH,” produced by Pleasant Storm Entertainment, has recently
licensed Christopher Alan Broadstone’s award-winning short film
“SCREAM FOR ME” to appear as a segment.

While West wants to move on to more serious fare, his heart still
belongs to exploitation.

Gross Movie Reviews Volume 1 update…

Ok, yes the book went up sale yesterday at lulu.com. Ran into a slight glitch that is being taken care of over the holiday weekend. Apparently the self-publishing site has say before it goes into global pubication. They sent me an e-mail yesterday just saying I had to make the book a 1/4 inch smaller cover wise before it is shipped off to anyone who has purchased it and the retailers. This slight problem is being taken care of and sales will resume Monday or Tuesday. The main reason for this update is that I already received a few e-mails of people who purchased the book and I myself was going to pick up a few copies for various things I have planned. So, sorry for the slight problem but the book be available again Monday or Tuesday and again hope you enjoy it!
