DEAD DOG COMICS ARE A GREAT FIND FOR HORROR FANS
BY Tim Gross
As you read in my Cinema Wasteland convention review I got to meet some of the guys who illustrate and write storylines for the ‘Dead Dog Comics’. They are a great bunch of guys to talk too about horror movies, comic books, etc. I personally have been reading ‘Dead Dog Comics’ since the first issue of “Night of the Living Dead: Barbara Chronicles. But the reason I like their comics is they focus on horror and horror movies. I don’t collect many comic books but when I do they are mostly horror related. ‘Dead Dog Comics’ having a small circulation (5,000 to 10,000 books) they usually sell most of their titles at conventions more than selling them at comic book shops, which of course this makes it hard to keep up on storylines. Well, two of their latest titles which I have read, “Tom Sullivan’s Book of the Dead: Devil Head and “Frankenstein are excellent for any horror fan who loves finding things like this. The art work is beautiful and the storylines are well written and interesting. But this no different from their ‘Barbara Chronicles’ and ‘Curse of the Blood Clan’ which are also excellent books. The comic book “Frankenstein is especially interesting just because it takes a complete but similar stab at an old storyline. The book shows Frankenstein the monster able to read and he reads up on his creator’s past work and is collecting fresh bodies for his own agenda. Once again, in my opinion, “Dead Dog Comics have made an excellent comic book and a great find for comic book lovers who feel that there isn’t much great horror comics available. So if you see the ‘Dead Dog’ label on a book, pick it up because you won’t be disappointed. If you don’t see any in your local comic book shop, ask for them to order the books or check out the convention scene and more than likely you find “Dead Dog Comics!

1) Rumors of Nightmare on Elm St. prequel are being spread on the internet again that New Line has taken interest in the project again and will be in production by end of the year.
2) Somebody sent me an e-mail to let me know ‘Piranha’ is being remade! What is this second or third time it is being remade?
3) I forgot to mention this in my review of Cinema Wasteland, I talked to the Synapse Films guys and asked them about Nailgun Massacre the sequel. Well, when I heard this I could not believe it and I’m still in shock… Terry Lofton the man behind Nailgun Massacre had a stroke a few months back and became blind because of it. Now I don’t know this is true or not but Synapse Films was putting up the money for the sequel. But this could explain why no news has been heard about the sequel, plus he was just getting started doing conventions last year for the first time ever. I got to meet Terry Lofton last year at spring Cinema Wasteland and he was one of the coolest people I ever met! So if Terry is having these medical issues, I do wish him well and hope he gets better soon!

‘PARTY LIKE HELL’ Review
By Tim Gross
DSK Productions is at again, this time a slightly different horror film than “Toxic Shock Zombies. ‘Party Like Hell’ is a movie about being a demon. Luke is home on Christmas, alone as usual and finds a present under his barely decorated tree. He opens it up and it is a book but not an ordinary book. It is a book that resembles “Evil Dead’s Book of the Dead but this book when you read it turns you into a demon. Which of course after Luke reads it he becomes a demon and now he is able to seek revenge on all people who crossed him over his young life? Luke comes up with an idea of throwing a party for everyone who has crossed him when his mother goes out of town. Everybody shows up and the killing eventually takes place until everyone is killed! The short film runs about 37 minutes long and could use some cuts as the partying during the party which takes up a bulk of the film isn’t exactly “exciting. Also there is a few places where the movie isn’t exactly cued up right and could use a little more editing but DSK Productions does a good enough job to keep me interested throughout the film. The DVD has a few extras: trailers, photo gallery with music, ‘Party Like Hell’ Make-up FX walk through, and of course some funny outtakes that include one character getting kicked in the balls from behind by accident! I give the DVD 2 ½ demons! You can check out for more movies and info on DSK at: www.DSK-PRODUCTIONS.com
