Meet www.bloodtypeonline.com

Posted by Tim on December 31, 1969

This is Russ, yes, I know he looks like a Bastard but he and a friend Ed (which our webpage for some reason does not like his picture) have just started a new horror webpage called, www.bloodtypeonline.com ! Its a pretty cool website check it out some plus you will be able to see these guys hanging out at the Bastards tables, pretty much because they are unoffical Bastards! But if there is another reason you need to check out the website it is because I also have written articles for the site which you will see from time to time. So horror fans go support…

Bastards of Horror visits “Out of the Ordinary”

Well, I took a drive to Glassport, Pa., to check out a store that was described, “To possibly be my thing”. The place happens to be about 13 miles from my house, which wasn’t too bad for something I wasn’t expecting too much. I drive up to it and it looks like a normal everyday CD shop from the outside, but once inside it becomes what most horror fans have been looking for in a store. Heather, who runs the store with her husband was very nice to show me around and explain to me several times that this store is aimed at the horror fan, because of her and her husband being big horror movie fans! Whether its horror soundtracks, horror music, horror T-shirts, or just horror movies they have a huge selection of stuff for your obsessive horror fan like me! But that is not all they have, they have your usual movie and CD fare for the mainstream crowd also because for every horror male fan there is that girlfriend who hasn’t even seen Saw 2 yet? Or that Goth girl whose boyfriend that hasn’t ever heard of “The Lost Boys”! They have kid’s movies, comedies, etc. for others but their main thing is horror movies as their used DVD and VHS section is beautiful and very reasonably priced! Plus they have reasonably priced new DVD’s, horror CD’s, etc… Heather explained to me they have been in business about two years and learning from their mistakes but having lots of fun running such a cool store such as theirs, so check out the pictures and check out the place or give them a call:

So we all trucked overnight on down to Philly for the Project Twenty1 screenings this past Wednesday, January 24th, and look what we came home with:

Needless to say, I’m immensely proud of our entire team with no name. We were up for several awards including Best Film, Best Director and Best Martketing; but honestly if Mike, Dave and Gracie didn’t take home this particular award I was willing to spill blood in the streets. Fortunately they did, so my blood was spared from washing those historic cobblestones afterall.

Brandon (RED SEVEN’s editor extrordinaire) and I are working on a finalized web version to post here - and around the world - soon in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, if you can’t wait to see this film (and you really shouldn’t quite frankly), please support this very cool festival/competition and pick up a copy of RED SEVEN nestled amoungst the other wildly talented filmmakers entries who competed at this past year’s festival.

Cheers!

Blood Sisters Review

Posted by Tim on December 31, 1969

Blood Sisters (DVD) – Never heard of it? Neither has most of the planet earth, but Joe Bob Briggs and Media Blasters bring us this horribly boring slasher from the late 80’s that has more tits than blood! Why should you even want to watch this? Once again, Joe Bob Briggs gives a very funny but informative commentary on an otherwise shitty slasher flick I would otherwise wipe my ass with. I give the DVD 3 stars.

The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-up Zombies

Posted by Tim on December 31, 1969

The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies (DVD) – Yes, that is the whole fucking title! The longest movie title in movie history… This movie is most likely the most famous movie made by the great unknown Ray Dennis Steckler who seems to be one of Joe Bob Briggs’s favorite filmmakers mainly because he seemed to be able to make movies for nothing and make a good bit of cash! Another movie released from Media Blasters and for the most part has not been seen on VHS or regular TV almost at all. Once again, Joe Bob Briggs puts together a great and very informative commentary track about the movie, Ray Dennis Steckler’s career, and how Hollywood didn’t embrace most of his flicks! I give it 3 ½ stars and a must own just because of the title.

Happy Birthday to Me

Posted by Tim on December 31, 1969

Happy Birthday To Me (DVD) – A great underrated slasher film that does not get its due mainly because Friday the 13th, Halloween, and Nightmare on Elm St. are the ones you think of. Happy Birthday to Me was released shortly after Halloween and Friday the 13th in late 1980 and having success at the theater but was forgotten as this was the beginning of the slasher film craze! Mostly forgotten because it also did not play much on cable TV as much as most slasher films. But anyhow, on a school campus “the top ten as the most popular students are called are being killed one by one with no one having any clue who the killer is. But unlike most slasher films at the time the movie takes more twists and turns than the whole Scream series did itself! The movie also features some of the coolest gore scenes of its time! Like I said this movie is likely forgotten when a conversation about slasher films comes up among movie fans but is worth a second look and an awesome addition to the DVD collection of fans like me! I give it 3 ½ stars.

Cinema Wasteland Information
Guys and girls, I speak from experience when I say this but possibly the coolest horror convention is coming up and it would be ashame you would miss it! Now, people that know me will say, “Didn’t you hate it the one year?â€? I’ll be honest, yes I did, but check out the last three or four spring and fall events have included special honored guests such as: The cast from House of 1000 Corpses, the cast from The Last House on the Left, the cast from Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and how can we forget the greatest man alive “TERRY LOFTONâ€?, who gave us Nailgun Massacre! How could you not love the man who was willing to hold a conversation about his movie for an hour! YES, I SAID WILLING! So don’t be an ass and come to the party. REad more….
